Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay is a roleplaying game that sets unlikely heroes on the road to perilous adventure, in the grim setting of Games Workshop's Warhammer Fantasy world. Players will venture into the dark corners of the Empire, guided by luck and Fate, and challenge the threats that others cannot or will not face.
No, I do not have it and I wonder how many words are there space for. I mean: For a ratcatcher few paragraphs are enough, but in order to explain what a Swordmaster and a Wardancer are you need some pages describing what the tower of Hoeth is, why Swordmasters study there, for the Wardancer you need to explain the religion of Adamnan or his brother, Loek the Elven trickster god, you need to explain that there is a deadly test to pass in order to become a Wardancer and once you become one you'll never be the same Elf as before. V1 had 3/4 pages detailing all that and I guess a Swordmaster or an Ironbreaker would need the same threatment.
It would be like detailing a Warrior of Chaos -> Exalted Champion of Chaos career path without the supporting background provided with the remaining 252 pages of the Tome of Corruption.
@Armrek: you're right, absolutely. And we still have to see the remaining 5 schools of magic, the remaining religions and the remaining high level careers for wizards and priests.
I'm assuming that you don't have the core set but every career sheet has a very nice description of that career on the back of the sheet. This description includes a general overview of how the career fits into the world, how one becomes that career, reasons why that career would take up adventuring, and typical trappings that career would usually carry. It gives you a very good sense of how that career should be roleplayed and every career card includes this on the back of the career card.
I still need to see som video clip or whatever to know what this is about. But now its $130 for the core set and this new pack. I'm beginning to wonder if this is sort of the same RPG content as the 2nd ed. core which was way cheaper. I'm still in the wait and see position here...

@Khula: It is called freedom of expression. And besides, it's not targetted directly to you, it's targetted to FFG. I know it is too late for suggesting how to change it, but they did not leave time for us to give any suggestions before finishing the creation phase of product. WFRP was my favourite product before that so I'm complaining about the new direction.
I would not mind the price of this product if it had also included some booklet giving proper bacground for each new career, tips on how to roleplay them, specific adventure hooks and the like. This way it is just 30$ for some spare cards. I know these cards expand the mechanics of the game and that's good, but you see, you can't really play such a powerful character like a Wardancer or a Swordmaster without proper written aid that explains you what is the faith behind these careers and all the background the player needs to know for not playing a stereotypal Elven Ninja transported in the WFRP world. As it is, this box sounds just "Collectable rolecard game" to my ears.
Value is always going to be in the eye of the beholder. For me, $3/career for a "character expansion" is quite reasonable, considering that I am getting physical product - take a look at the recent Fantasy Craft releases on DriveThruRPG ($5 for a bundled PDF of 3 classes).
The "generic" cards are in the toolkit because there can be a use for them. It expands the number of the basic cards that players can use. Basically, the Toolkit has enough basic components to allow an additional player to be "supported" in the game such that they have their own cards. It's another set of basic action cards plus a character keeper box, etc. You can play without them, of course, by sharing or making copies. FFG is including these so there's less need to share. They also make nice backups, and/or can be used by the GM to use with NPCs (since NPCs can also use basic action cards). So, they are a nice to have bonus. You *can* play without them, but it's nicer to have the actual cards for each player. The basic cards and stuff are a minimal addition to the set. The majority of the action cards are brand new actions that most if not all characters can perform. Just like the core set, there are very few action cards that are limited to a specific career (a slayer or two, wizards spells, and priest blessings are the only ones that come to mind). So, I think likely only 5 or so might be career specific, and the rest are new actions that anyone can use. So, still more than paying just $30 for 10 careers. You are getting 10 careers plus 45 actions, plus a character keeper, plus another pad of character sheets, plus who knows what else (more tokens, stance pieces, etc, perhaps), for that $30.

Otherwise If you are going to play 3rd edition, let's face it, you will want it. I appreciate FFG are trying something new with RPG's. My biggest concern is the cost which is why I am not going for it. That doesn't the new system is crap, just that I am sticking with 2nd edition.
I cannot understand why someone would post negative posts in a forum about a product they don't like. I could understand it if this was an 'ideas and suggestions' forum, but it isn't. It's an 'announcement and release details' forum.
FFG are not going to change this product based on what is written here. Why are some bods so insistent on negativity no matter how eloquently phrased? I understand your concerns, I understand why you don't like the product. I'm never going to be able to change your mind (and i don't have the inclination to), and you are never going to change mine. This isn't a debate forum to try and sway a neutral potential buyer so why bother trying to?
Now please leave us that do actually enjoy the product(s) to actually enjoy them. You've made your point about the whole WFRP direction. There are two other versions with plenty of source material that you can play for years to come. Please allow those of us that choose the latest version to enjoy it.
As for the Adventurers Toolkit, as you may have guessed I will be purchasing it. I enjoy the new version of WFRP. Call me sad, I don't care. I respect your opinion, I just choose to disagree with it.
You see, there is a discrepancy here.
By one side FFG tells there is no real need of expanding the number of basic cards of the boxed set in order to play with more than 3-4 players.
By another side FFG releases these expansions.
Now, the expansion contains 10 new careers, some specific new cards and several generic old cards... all that for 30$. If the several generic cards are generic cards, why are they inside this box if there is no real need of them? Without them the box would cost much less!
If, by the other way, all the cards contained in this box are needed to play the 10 careers we are stuck to the 30$ for 10 careers problem.
In both cases this is going to be a very expencive expansion set!
Keep in mind that, for example, Tome of Corruption contained more than double careers and a whopping good number of pages jamstuffed with loads of backgrounds, rules and tables... all for 40$.
Erik, keep in mind that all the action cards and talents are part of the RULES. So, that's 10 careers as well as numerous "pages" of new talents and actions. AFAIK the majority, if not all, the talents and actions are usable by EVERYONE, not just the 10 careers included. There are also additional characters sheets, another set of Basic Action cards, etc. So, yeah, it's more than the $30 for 10 careers you are thinking.

I see some people complaining over the price, so here goes my two cents about this topic...
I think the prices given by FFG make a lot of sense, for those who (like me) are interested in this game concept.
One example: I am desigining a small boardgame with a friend and we want to use custom dice. You can order them from some companies (like Chessex or Crystal Caste) and the price is 1 dollar per side you want to customize: that's 6 dollars for a relatively small d6!... OK, it's for a small run, but for huge runs you get half that price... FFG is offering a pack with 10 or so dice for 12 dollars, so I think they are trying to be as fair as they can with us, their customers.
To sum up, I am always positively surprised by the price-quality relation of FFG games, and I think this will still be the case with WFRP3.
