A Star to Steer Your Ship By 7
The Descent: Sea of Blood rules are now on the support page
Descent: Journeys In The Dark | Published 03 December 2009

Mighty ships sail the waves among the distant isles of Torue Albes, an archipelago of secrets and treasures beyond imagination. Powerful forces have rallied to the banners of darkness, led by a malevolent overlord. Fortunately for the people of Torue Ables, a band of heroes has rediscovered a legendary ship capable of opposing the overlord’s forces, provided its crew is brave enough to sail the sea of blood.

Sea of Blood, the much-anticipated campaign expansion for Descent: Journeys in the Dark, has endured a perilous journey across rough waters to arrive in the FFG warehouse. Finally, it will begin shipping to distributors this week!

But like a navigator who consults his star map before shipping off, you must chart your course before you raise your sails. To help, we’ve put the rules for Sea of Blood (pdf, 6.7 mb) on the Descent support page!

Descent: Journeys in the Dark is a tactical board game for 2-5 players that takes a party of adventurers deep into the dungeons of Terrinoth for adventure, treasure, and glory. But beware! The Overlord and his minions stand poised to oppose any heroes foolhardy enough to enter the dungeon.

This was one of the surprises I had when visiting Essen Games Fair this year. I bought a copy as soon as I saw it.

I'm now conducting two Road to Legend campaigns, but as soon as I finish with them I plan on starting a new one with Sea of Blood, which has some vey cool new mechanics.

Reading the rules...

I'm rather burned out on Descent expansions; so much stuff that is used so little; so much clutter that is so rarely seen. I recently played a game with no expansions, and the experience was invigorating.

We'll see whether this one warrants any more attention, or whether it's better to pass up on one.

As I stated before, I am going to hold off until the reviews come in for this one. Usually anything FFG makes is a "day 1" purchase for me, but I don't want to spend all this money and find cards are the wrong size, typos galore, and errors to all the quests like I did with the quest compendium.

If it is error free then I will buy it. By error free I mean if I don't have to wait on an errata to have correctly redone maps like they had to do for the Chaos Cube quest and others. Or tell me to replace entire paragraphs with the following one. Those are a little too much for me to just ignore and still throw money FFG's way.

I made a challenge in the forum to see if they can make an error free product. I hope they can do it.

Typos are still okay....though I would prefer not to have those either.
