Uncover the Secrets of Arkham 21
This Winter, the First Deluxe Expansion for the Call of Cthulhu: The Card Game
Call of Cthulhu LCG | Published 11 November 2009

Devils danced on the roofs of Arkham, and unnatural madness howled in the wind. Through the fevered town had crept a curse which some said was greater than the plague, and which some whispered was the embodied daemon-soul of the plague itself.
- Herbert West: Reanimator by H.P. Lovecraft

Fantasy Flight Games is proud to present the first Deluxe expansion for the Call of Cthulhu: The Card Game, Secrets of Arkham. With the release of this expansion, the Call of Cthulhu card game deepens with 100 cards new to the LCG™ metagame (2 copies of each of 50 cards), featuring 6 unique cards for each faction and 8 neutral cards.

These cards will open a host of new deckbuilding opportunities for players looking to expand the horizons of their game. New "tribal" synergy deck options open up through additional support for the Deep One, Mi-Go, and other subtypes, as well as for the Day and Night mechanic.

Click on the cards for larger versions.

Additionally, this set introduces a wealth of utility neutral cards that will easily find their way into lots of different kinds of decks. Cards like Diseased Sewer Rats and Feint will become indispensable in the new metagame.

This set also features a new 10-card story deck that players can use in place of the story deck found in the Call of Cthulhu Core Set to take their game to a new level. These story cards will feature large, global effects, that players will fight hard to trigger... or prevent from happening.

This Winter, prepare yourself to delve into Arkham's deepest mysteries with Secrets of Arkham!

Based on the fiction of H.P. Lovecraft and his literary circle, Call of Cthulhu: The Card Game takes two players deep into the Cthulhu Mythos where investigators clash with the Ancient Ones and Elder Gods for the fate of the world. To learn more about Call of Cthulhu, visit our minisite.

Not everyone cares about having a full playset, and 2x of each card is generally enough for a casual level of play (I think 1x is too low, though). While I'd be fine with one box providing 3x of every card, it'd be at a higher price point and they'd sell less overall units that way.

At any rate, if you go in on a friend with three and split it straight down the middle, you each pay $37.50 total for a full playset. That seems very reasonable to me (to contrast, having to pay $120 for a full core playset was not).

If you and your friend are buying three boxes to split so you each have a playset, how is that a better solution that each of you buying one box, slightly higher priced, so you each have a playset if FFG would just put everything you need in one box?

Hope to get  a small box to avoid extra volume shipping charges ! too bad being robbed for volume ! Or I'll find someone that ships me wihout boxes ......

Ooh, uses the Princes of the Sun model 2 of each card. For the guy who asked, it's so that you and a friend can go in on three and both have 3 of each card (my main friend who I play with was not pleased about having to buy three core sets JUST FOR HIMSELF originally).

I like the look of continuing the themes of the deep ones and mi-gos. Hopefully the Yog cards included are strong as well, to make up for the faction being (generally) the weakest in LCG (and before anyone asks, I don't even play Yog, this is just an observation).

I like the idea of 2 of each card. Much better than the 1 and 3 split that has been in previous expansion packs.

Very good news ! Yes, also looking for some nice goodies to fill up the big box ;) (with such a great art, I'm not going to complain it is too big, as I will use it for storage)

I think that 2 copies of each is good enough. And if you want 3 copies of each beacuse of the tournaments, you may purchase a box with a friend, and get the additional copy of each at half price. It's an excellent format to release new cards in a very acceptable price.
