Last week, we introduced you to three formidable Dragons that will be flying onto shelves this fall. BattleLore: Creatures, much like Dragons, introduces players to three new monstrosities to unleash upon any force foolish enough to stand in their way. Two of these figures are variant forms of the promotional creatures that appeared previously.
Sharing a forest home with the Wood Wyvern is the Wood Giant. Towering over his foes, the Wood Giant is able to defend both allies and lair by hurling massive logs! This devastating ranged attack must come from tiles that contain a forest, but the giant isn’t afraid to leave his home to crush invading forces.
A mighty warrior was once tasked with removing a powerful creature from the land. He journeyed far until he reached the creature’s lair. He shot arrows into the cave, hoping to draw the monster out. As the creature ventured forth, he got his first glimpse of this powerful monster. The powerful body, the sinuous movement, the multiple heads... multiple heads? As the warrior attacked the beast, he was able to sever one of these heads. Much to his horror, the head not only grew back, it grew back alongside another head! This creature is the deadly Hydra! Now you can field the might of this mythic monster, and as the creature is wounded is gets far stronger. Every head removed is a new head added, and each head is able to launch its own attack!
Our final creature is the most magical of all. Brought forth from the power of the Magic Vortex, the Rock Elemental is able to appear almost anywhere on the battlefield! This powerful ability, combined with the sheer strength of this creature, can be truly devastating. As this creature can strike without warning, the enemy will be forced to guard his movement, keeping the possible angles of attack right where he wants them.
FFG is proud to see these powerful new additions to the BattleLore line. Make sure to check out the product page for full details on all the great components found in these new expansions. And check back, as we will be previewing these beasts in the weeks to come!
Set in a world that bridges history and fantasy, BattleLore is board game that puts players in command of a vast array of miniature troops on the battlefields of medieval Europe. Using the easy-to-learn Commands and Colors system, players can wage thrilling battles without a lengthy time commitment.
i have found the creatures expansion and the dragons expansion, pre order for 21.99 each. so, wipe that forty dollar and even thiry dollar nonsense away.
I would like to know why FFG releases these new elements (like dice sets and Dragons, and Creatures) when the base game is unavailable? It's a mystery (and shame) to me.
$40!!I love Battlelore ,and I already had 6 expansions, but I would rather DIY than buy it .
I agree that $40 is a lot for 3 mini's, but if you don't want them, then don't buy them.
As far as people whinging that they already have 2 out of the 3, sell them or use them, come up with scenarios to use them, do whatever you want with them, but please remember not everyone was lucky enough to get them first time around. Some of us have been looking on ebay for ages to find them.
Please also remeber that not all UK retailers got their mini's. Many of us didn't get ours when ordered and are happy that we can now pick them up, fixed and at a set price.
Please always remeber that if this were wizards you would be buying random boosters by now and cursing the rarity of the Hydra.
Along with many others, I already HAVE two of these! If the price point IS $40, count me out. I'd LOVE to have the hydra, but that's excessive, even for ME...
Ok, so help me here. How do you use blue and red monsters? The maps in the basic set have set ups for the green spider and I could see subbing in another green monster. But subbing in a blue or red monster seems unfair. Someone suggested you bring them in with your war council points. If that is the case, how does that work?
I have the earth elemental already, and it was/is a blue-level monster. I am a little curious as to why they upgraded it to a red.
IMHO monsters are a big gamble. Sometimes they make a huge impact on a game, other times they die to the first lucky hit.
Many people(myself included) have 2 of the 3. Rather sell them in seperate blisters so that those that haven't got them can get them and those that have 2 of the three only need to buy one. I can't see many people shelling out for what they already have.
The Hydra would be wonderful to have, but as I already have the other two, this prices the beastie out of range of my poorly diminished pocketbook. Even the Hydra isn't worth my wife divorcing me for unwarranted extravagance....her one head is worth all the ones the Hydra would grow! Heroes seems well worth the price for the value it gives, but this one would do better sold as individual blister packs. Then those who never got the Hill Giant or the Earth Elemental could complete their collection without forcing the rest of us to get extra creatures we don't need.
Per Alliance Games Distributors these will retail for $34.95, meaning you will be able to find for around $28 from online retailers.
Also seems the Forest Giant card hasn't been proofed. Namely the SoS....keep rolling until the unit is dead or out of range. Well since all SoS are resolved first and keep getting rerolled...hard to get a unit out of range....
also based on the headline of the story, seems the Spider got "axed" that was to be included (at least the cards for it)...pretty sad. And I have to agree, this one needs to be lowered priced wise OR include some option for those who already have the elemental/giant to obtain the Hydra and cards/banners. This one expansion might be the one that sits on the shelf a lot due to fact quite a few people have those creatures.
