Board the Sovereign Venture 19
Download a Free Introductory Adventure for the Rogue Trader RPG
Rogue Trader | Published 22 June 2009

Hello Rogue Trader Fans!

Ross Watson and the rest of the RPG department are away from FFG Headquarters and headed out to Merry Old England to commune with our friends and partners at Games Workshop this week, but while he is out, we present for everyone who was not able to make it out to Free RPG Day on Saturday our contribution to the event: Forsaken Bounty.

Forsaken Bounty is a set of quickstart rules, pregenerated characters, and an introductory adventure for the Warhammer 40,000 Roleplay: Rogue Trader roleplaying game.

In Rogue Trader, players will take on the roles of the crew of a Rogue Trader ship, a ship given the freedom to explore the edges of known space and exploit them for riches and renown. A Rogue Trader who can wrest profits from a dangerous universe will enjoy something few humans in the 41st Millenium know - a life of adventure and freedom. The course, however, is fraught with peril: foul aliens, pernicious raiders, and even other Rogue Traders will stand in your way on the path to greatness. Will you set forth into the beyond and brave a deadly universe for fortune and glory?

In this introductory adventure, the crew of the Rogue Trader ship, Sovereign Venture, must journey into the Maw, a merciless region of unexplored space, to salvage the lost vessel, Emperor's Bounty. The crew of the Venture will find more than they bargained for as they delve into the secrets of the forsaken Bounty.

Forsaken Bounty can be played with three players and a GM and you can also download two additional bonus characters to add to the crew of the Sovereign Venture.

Go to our Rogue Trader Support Page now to download print-quality or web-quality versions of Forsaken Bounty and start your career as a Rogue Trader today!

Rogue Trader RPG will officially release this Fall at your Friendly Local Game Store. Stay tuned to this site for news, designer diaries, updates, and more!

Rogue Trader is a roleplaying game set in dark gothic far future of Games Workshop's Warhammer 40,000 universe. Players take on the roles of explorers aboard a Rogue Trader's ship, searching for profit and adventure while discovering new alien cultures and threats in the uncharted regions of space.

Finally got to run through Forsaken Bounty, and while fatigue and general tomfoolery of old buddies reuniting after 3 months caused me to skip some of the random complications the players could encounter, we all enjoyed ourselves.  While it was a little generic as the last poster said, it instilled a little Space Hulk feel in us, which is a good thing since we loved that game.  Just the idea of Genestealers in an abandoned ship made them want to play even more than they already do the next time they're visiting my locale (they're from out of town, so we only get to game every couple of months or so).  Nonetheless, for an intro scenario, it was pretty decent for doing what it wanted to do:  make me have to buy it and run it.

Looking forward to RT's release!

 Hi guys,

I hate to be only unhappy voice here, but I'm kinda dissatisfied with Forsaken Bounty. You see, it has excellent graphics, nice PCs, it looks great... except that it is completely generic and cliched. Come on, if you replace "old derelict spaceship" with "old crumbling castle" and "Thrall of Psycharus Worm" with "Evil Lich", you get a fantasy adventure any D&D/WHFRP player has seen about twenty times.

The one most important thing I expect from R.T. is that players will really feel like interstellar merchants, commanding huge ships and having great power and great responsibility. Yet this aspect is completely missing from the introductory adventure. I mean: PCs command spaceship with a crew of hundred thousand men and yet they can take only _three_ of them to assist on a mission?

I understand that there are some limitations to the introductory adventure and that you probably wanted to just show the very basic game system. I would just like to see another example - one targetted not to complete beginner, but to a player who knows what a RPG is and how WHFRP/DH/RT systems works and who wants to see what is really new, original and interesting in the Rogue Trader (and I'm pretty sure there's a lot!). Unfortunatelly, Forsaken Bounty failed to show that.

cheers,

Bob

I don't suppose there would be any chance of a printer friendly version of the PDF being made availiable?  The full colour is nice, but even in grey scale tends to drain an ink cartridge.

Great writing, great artwork!  I haven't played anything 40,000 since the original Rogue Trader (which I still have with Compendium & Compilation)  I'm for sure going to get this when it comes out.  thanks for the HARD work guys!

I can see Nathin's gear sometimes when I'm scrolling up/down on the page, but it disappears when I stop. Seems it might be being eclipsed by the "TALENTS AND SPECIAL RULES" header somehow.

After scrolling up & down, here's a list of his gear:

Autoquill, Dataslate, Microbead, 2 sets of robes, chrono, 2 clips of Hell-pistol ammo, void-breather

Hello Rogue Trader Fans,

Due to a slight error in exporting the PDF files, Nathin Tsanthos' gear fell off of Forsaken Bounty. Sorry about that! We have uploaded the revised versions of the print-quality and web-quality PDFs to the Rogue Trader Support Page. Thanks for catching it.
