The (Ground) Beneath Your Wings 21
Wings of War Game Mats available now!
Wings of War | Published 16 June 2009

Take to the skies! Wings of War Game Mats are now available at your friendly local game store and the FFG Online Store.

Wings of War Game Mats can be used as scenario maps for reconnaissance and bombing missions, or as convenient table coverings to enhance your Wings of War experience, immersing you deeper in the rich tapestry of epic duels and heroic effort that took place in the skies during World War I, the birthplace of aerial combat.

The mats are large, 98 x 68cm (38.6 x 26.8in), about the size of an average poster, made of a durable rubber foam with fabric bonded to the top, similar to a mouse pad.

Wings of War Game Mats come in an East and a West section, and can be used separately or combined with the other half to create a larger battlefield.

I camouflaged the logos with some markers.  You can still see them but much reduced.  It was easy.

Love the mat, love the logo, I will be proud to play my favourite board game on these. I pick up both my mats on Thursday. Price in Canada is around $45. My felt mat has been OK, but the vivid colours and nice graphics remind me of the classic Dawn Patrol fold out map.

Great work, FFG, please do more of these, preferably one with a trench/frontline area!

Agree.  I love the mats, but will not buy because of the ridiculously large logo.  I saw them in person at Gen Con.  When you put the mats side by side, the logos are immensely distracting.

FFG, you make amazing stuff!  Please don't do something this bone-headed again!

Two things I don't like, and prevent me from buying. First, my table is 140x90 cm (most tables are under 100 cm wide) 2 game mats of 90x70 cm would fit perfectly, the mats are too long for me. Second, the logos are too big. The main point for buying would be aesthetics, and the logos just don't help.

Yeah, who thought up that marketing! I am sure they are still gona sell, but Think of how many more they would have sold had they just made the logo smaller in one corner or better yet, ON THE BACK!!! Way to go FF! My dining room table has a green felt padded top that I printed out a bunch of runways, and a lake that I laminated to throw on it. they look great, and throw in a few trees from lionel train set and it is a lot cheaper than jumbo logo's!

I asked in the forums but probably should have just asked here. Are these game mats drawn to the same scale as the target, AA, and mg or trench cards?
