The Legend of the Lord of Darkness

Eons ago, a crafty wizard dared to pit his arcane arts against the infernal powers of the Lord of Darkness. The battle raged for days until finally, to the demon overlord’s outrage and horror, the wizard trapped him within his own dungeon and stole his diabolical powers. Using the power he had taken from the Lord of Darkness, the wizard enslaved mysterious spirits and compelled them to forge a magical crown for him in the Valley of Fire. While he wore this Crown of Command, no one dared challenge the wizard’s absolute rule over the land of Talisman.

But that was centuries ago. Time finally accomplished what no army could do, and laid the wizard low. In his final days, he hid the Crown of Command in the most perilous part of the most dangerous land in his realm. He set around it the most fearsome guardians that his most powerful spells were able to command, to wait for the day when a champion with sufficient strength, wisdom, and courage will take his crown and rule in his stead.

But the Lord of Darkness still remains locked in his dark prison, its murky precincts home to all manner of loathsome and vicious creatures who do his nefarious bidding. The demon’s undead legions infest its depths, eager to devour the hapless souls who wander or become trapped there. The Goblin King and his thieving minions also lurk in the subterranean maze, filling the dark lord’s treasure room with untold wealth and powerful artifacts. And everywhere tread the evil one’s iron golems, destroying all who cross their path.

Will you have the strength to take on the Lord of Darkness? Do you have the skill to avoid the traps filling the corridors within the dungeon? Be sure to check back as our own expeditionary party has journeyed to this haunted dungeon, and if they return, will be bringing back tales of the horrors found within the halls of the Dungeon.

I really look forward to the Dungeon Expansion

I hope that you are making the Dragon Tower and Dragon expansion too in the future ! ;)

It could replace the inner region then, and climbing up that tower is so cool !

Keep up the good work.

The artwork is so good from the Dungeon. I wonder how the forest and mountains would be with that quality artwork !!

Looks very similar to the 3rd edition expansion except there seem to be more areas on the new board. Very nice work on the art and miniatures. I think eventually this edition will replace for the most part the 3rd edition on our gaming table but we still enjoy playing it with all three expansions, makes for a much more interesting game and instead of the player elimination win it's all about the one who can get up the Tower and kill the Dragon. Nice work so far though FFG looking forward to all the future add ons.

Talisman is the best ... can't wait for the Dungeon expansion it was my favorite expansion in the 2nd edition, actually its Polish edition, "Magia i Miecz" (eng. "Magic & Sword"). I would actually prefer to see a lot of more stuff on the Dungeon board and in the future expansions, maybe something similar to the Reaper expansion, which adds new degree of interaction into the game.

Outstanding game totally recommended, and it is so easy to start playing, I would dare to say the easiest - easier even then the Monopoly :)

The artworks and the board looks fantastic!!! Now the only space on the main board I would like to see expanded is the city.I would rather play brand new theme boards such as a vampire's castle for example to add a more gothic flavor to the game. Some alternate endings that could replace crown of command like fighting a boss or being transported to a independant board for higher level would be cool too.Well,I'm only wishing for a longer life for Talisman. Can't wait!!

I have been utterly delighted with the wonderful new edition of Talisman, having played the 2nd edition for many years. The board is glorious and the character models much better than the tatty old cards!

The Reaper expansion was fun, but I suspect that this new Dungeon Expansion will be a delight - especially if the quality matches that of the 4th Revised board - bring on May 2009!

And please keep these expansions going - we need the City, and the Dragons (I personally can live without the Timescape - never seemed to quite fit in...?) and then how about some small expansions for places such as the Tavern (lots of different taverns with alternate actions) and maybe some more serious Quests - the Warlock Quests seem a bit simple?

Excellent news! I may even buy the FFG version of the base game, and sell of my upgraded BI edition. When will this be available for pre-order via the usual distributors?

When is it being released

WOOT ! I am very excited about this.

I love the Dungeon.  The Dungeon and Forest are my favorite boards !

I think it won't include the Mountain Board but  i hope that they will release it in the future.

Thanks FFG !

Will it be L shaped and include the Mountain Eagle's lair and the "slow dice", like the 3rd edition version?
