Immediately upon beholding this amulet we knew that we must possess it; that this treasure alone was our logical pelf from the centuried grave. Even had its outlines been unfamiliar we would have desired it, but as we looked more closely we saw that it was not wholly unfamiliar. [...] All too well did we trace the sinister lineaments [...] drawn from some obscure supernatural manifestation of the souls of those who vexed and gnawed at the dead.
– H.P. Lovecraft, The Hound
Otherworldly terrors are breaking through to our dimension, and only you and your team of intrepid investigators can gather the ancient weapons necessary to send them back to the abyss from whence they came...
Now available for iPhone and iPod touch
Elder Sign: Omens, a game for your digital device, is now available for the iPhone and iPod touch through Apple’s iTunes store (the iPad, Mac OS X, and Android versions will be available very soon)!
Elder Sign: Omens allows players to build the perfect team of up to four intrepid investigators as they work to prevent the emergence of Azathoth, the demon god of the unnamable void. His arrival will surely spell the end of human existence, but if you can use your investigators’ skills wisely, you’ll stave off destruction. All sixteen of Elder Sign’s unique investigators stand ready to face these otherworldly horrors; control any number of them in your own solo game, or “pass and play” with your friends.
To whet your appetite, we’ve put together this brief video overview. Take a look, then head to the iTunes store to start your download:

Noteworthy differences
But remember, while Elder Sign: Omens brilliantly conveys the spirit of the Elder Sign dice game, a few noteworthy differences were adopted to optimize the mobile play experience:
Can you stand against the impending arrival of Azathoth? Download Elder Sign: Omens for your iPhone or iPod touch, and look for the iPad, Mac OS X, and Android versions very soon.
Elder Sign: Omens is a digital
device application that lets you recreate the horrifying tension of Elder Sign wherever you go. Pass and play with up to three of your friends, or try to best your previous attempts with the detailed scoring system. With Elder Sign: Omens, there’s no escaping the horrors of the Ancient Ones.
There is a seperate HD version for the iPad. I don't think you will be able to "upgrade" if you bought the IPhone version.
I purchased the Iphone version on my iPad and didn't notice the part about how an iPad version is coming out soon. Is the version coming out a version just for the iPad or are they updating the current one so it works on both iPad and iPhone?
I'm liking the game, but I seem to have run into an error.
Playing with Gloria Goldberg I visited the City of the Great Race, and didn't receive the Red and Yellow Glyph dice. Unless I'm misunderstanding the rules, she is supposed to get those for free whenever she is attempting an Other World encounter.
OK, let's get this out there for iPad and Android! We played Elder Sign last night for Halloween, and I was reminded just what a great game this is...not that I really needed reminding! Now I can't wait to play it on the iPad.
Great Game, bought it yesterday. Same problems with the Number on dice.
I couldnt resist and bought it on the iPhone as soon as I saw the news of the release.
The game is a lot of fun, great graphics, great mood music.
Love it so far.
My only complaint is that the dice symbol for the magnifying glass (sorry dunno the game term for it) is very difficult to read the numer (1, 2 or 3) on the iPhone 3GS. Maybe that is not the case for the higher resolution iPhone 4...
Great touch in the video and text tutorials also.
Apart from that, great game, hope FFG keeps bringing these in the future! (another way to grab my wallet huh?)
So will there be an iPad version or will it only be for iPhone and iPod?
[ADMIN: As stated in the article, the iPad and Android versions are forthcoming.]
Looks great, can't wait for the iPad version.
When do you think Descent 2nd edition app will be out? :D
Fantastic graphics. Wow. Takes a little getting used to compared to the board game, but an excellent implementation. Great job, FFG. More electronic versions of your games, please!
The gameplay is excellent; I bought it tonight for my iPod Touch 4. However, it has crashed and froze 4 times in 40 minutes which is a drag. Improvements: make the clue token numbers more visible and make dragging the glyphs to the portal easier to target (it takes several tries just to make the glyph disappear).
There's a interesting article/graph that shows the kind of crap Android developers have to deal with, and why many don't bother.

iOS application developers have to make sure that their apps work on 3 devices with very similar hardware. Android application developers have to make sure that their apps work on dozens of devices, with varied hardware. Give it some time.
