Forbidden Alchemy introduces four new investigators to your horrifying tales. Cameraman Darrell Simmons is no stranger to the peculiar goings-on of Arkham, and the bone saw-wielding Doctor Vincent Lee brings the steady hands of a veteran surgeon to your adventures. Meanwhile, the skilled illusionist Dexter Drake aspires to greater arcane powers, and psychologist Carolyn Fern bases her arts in more rational, scientific endeavors. With its range of characters, abilities, and equipment, Forbidden Alchemy further bolsters Mansions of Madness’ already significant replayability.

In “Return of the Reanimator,” the investigators are tasked with entering a vermin-infested manor to seek the whereabouts of Doctor Herbert West, a reportedly insane scientist whose legendary experiments in reanimation led to his untimely demise. Meanwhile, “Yellow Matter” tells the grim tale of research into strange extraterrestrial beings. But who is the experimenter, and who is the subject? Finally, “Lost in Time and Space” takes your Mansions of Madness experience to mind-bending new heights with the introduction of time travel! Travel back to the mid-nineteenth century or ahead to the mid-twenty-first in your search for the truth behind a strange and dangerous device.

Mansions of Madness is a macabre game of horror, insanity, and mystery for two to five players. Based on the beloved fiction of H.P. Lovecraft, Mansions of Madness tells a story in which one player takes on the role of the keeper, a malevolent force working to complete a sinister plot, and all other players take on the roles of investigators, the unlikely heroes who gather to oppose him.
Too much good FF expansions during Q4 2011. I`ll be in the red for the holidays.
This is a very cool game.
Still... I wonder if the expansion rules or a new FAQ will address the ever-growing heap of exploration cards? Usually the scenario setup tells you to just plant the remainders randomly. Should there be a limit? And if so, is it 1/2 normal, 1/2 nothing of interest? Are we expected to separate other expansion pack cards from that deck before every game? Playtesting would sort this problem out too, so I agree it will be interesting to see.
Argh, why did it have to be Vincent Lee and Dexter Drake, two of my Arkham Horror's most despised investigators :D ? At least no Amanda Sharpe yet!

While I'm definitely excited about this, what I'd really like to see is an expansion that just has LOT more stories in it.

Looks awesome, and I'm really liking the $35 price tag for it. Yay for not breaking my mind, not the bank!
After completing the necessary Alchemy Puzzle, you must then roll a test, using the number of correctly placed puzzle pieces as your attribute. If your concoction is not deemed safe (if your roll is higher than the number of correct pieces), it can cause horrific side effects! No longer is it safe to simply fail to complete a puzzle, leaving it to the next investigator to finish. When you dabble in eldritch alchemy, the consequences can be dire indeed, resulting in noxious fumes that cause insanity, pain, or worse...
