Announcing the reprint of the Defenders of the North expansion cycle |

"Everyone talks about snows forty foot deep, and how the ice wind comes howling out of the north, but the real enemy is the cold. [...] It burns, it does. Nothing burns like the cold. But only for a while. Then it gets inside you and starts to fill you up, and after a while you don't have the strength to fight it. It's easier just to sit down or go to sleep. They say you don't feel any pain toward the end. First you go weak and drowsy, and everything starts to fade, and then it's like sinking into a sea of warm milk. Peaceful, like."
–Gared, A Game of Thrones
Fantasy Flight Games is thrilled to announce the upcoming reprint of the Defenders of the North expansion cycle for A Game of Thrones: The Card Game! The fantastic creatures from Old Nan’s stories are all too real, and they’re set to invade. An epic struggle awaits at the Wall between the Night’s Watch and the stealthy Wildlings.
Updated to the new 60 card format
The reprint of the Defenders of the North expansion cycle has been updated to the 60-card format (3 copies each of 20 unique cards). The included cards are updated with rules text based on the most recent FAQ and Errata. This cycle is best known for introducing the stackable Agenda mechanic that gives players the option of customizing their own Night’s Watch or Wildling decks through character bonuses. Stackable Agendas specifically allow players to attach more than one Agenda to their House card, while requiring two additional power to win for every Agenda added.
The reprint of the Defenders of the North expansion cycle includes popular cards such as Khal Drogo, Frozen Moat, Naval Escort, Ser Balon Swann, Varamyr Sixskins, and Melisandre. This cycle also features a number of cards for players to build a The North-themed deck, or a deck surrounding the Summer/Winter mechanic.
Winter is coming. Take up arms for the cause when the reprint of the Defenders of the North expansion cycle is released in the fourth quarter of 2011!
Based on George R.R. Martin's bestselling fantasy epic A Song of Ice and Fire, A Game of Thrones: The Card Game, playable by 2-4 players, brings the beloved heroes, villains, locations, and events of the world of Westeros to life through innovative game mechanics and the highly strategic game play. The Living Card Game format allows players to customize their gaming experience with monthly Chapter Pack expansions to the core game.
Coming to a game late is sometimes good :)
It'll also be easier to sucker in more victims for this game now. Everybody had some reservations about the old format.
I am so excited for the reprint of this set. I hope to build a good north deck, and let my wife take Khal Drogo and whatever works for her Targ Deck.
I wonder if there is a chance that the banned "Blood of the First Men" agenda can get an errata as to make it useful again come the reprint time?!
Thanks for the clarification Spaniard.
Note that we will reprint AGOT cycles in the new 60-card format when the older version has been out of print for a while. These are the only two cycles out of print at this time.

Pretty sure they will, Toq.
@jmccarthy yeah, seriously, I don't understand why they don't preview a card that has had its wording updated. That's only really interesting part (until I can actually buy the new packs).
Balerion 3x :Q_____
"The included cards are updated with rules text based on the most recent FAQ and Errata."
I wonder if Blood of the First Men will have an updated text that says: WARNING! DO NOT USE! OVERPOWERED AND BANNED!
I hope they are released soon as well as the other 3 and the Core Set. It'll help a newbie like myself. Can't wait.
FARK Yeah!!!
Melisandre, Balerion and Khal Drogo ftw
