Doubt of the real facts, as I must reveal them, is inevitable; yet if I suppressed what will seem extravagant and incredible there would be nothing left.
–H.P. Lovecraft, “At the Mountains of Madness”
Elder Sign allows players to participate in events so chaotic and disturbing as to wear thin the sanity of even the strongest minds. Yet investigators must adhere strictly to the facts, no matter how outlandish they may seem. Only by remaining open to the facts, then reviewing them, can investigators hope to thwart the Ancient One’s entry to our realm.
Facts so incredible as to warp the mind
Set aside what you think are the rules of reality. The events of Elder Sign lead far beyond what any sane mind can successfully comprehend.
To venture into the mouth of madness, you must follow new rules. The rules you must follow for Elder Sign are now available for download here (pdf, 3.2 MB) and on the Elder Sign support page.
As you consider the rules for this frightening reality, remember the situation is dire. The Ancient One’s threat must be confronted soon. Elder Sign releases in the third quarter of 2011.
Elder Sign is a fast-paced,
cooperative dice game of supernatural intrigue for one to eight players by Richard Launius and Kevin Wilson, the designers of Arkham Horror.
Very excited to see what can be done with this one. Haven't gotten it yet and I am already wondering how they are going to expand this. Think I need a second job just to cover my Fantasy Flight games.
Perfect! now ill understand the rules before the game arrives!!
The rules look good, but there were a couple of editing mistakes I hope they take care of before it goes to the printers.
I'm still a little weary of the dice mechanic, but hopefully there's enough going on to make it feel more strategic and less random.
The rules convinced me to preorder this one. It's like a really condensed down version of Arkham Horror, but different enough in its own right to justify owning both. Awesome!
Already pre-ordered from my FLGS!
Did they release the v1 of the FAQ yet? ;-)
Deceptively simply and fun. Who would have thought that would work? I can't wait for this one.
Now that I've read the rules I'm playing it...in my brain.
Heh...I've actually calculated exactly the possible release date based on the estimated times on the Upcoming page. If those times are to be believed, it will release on this site between August 18 and September 4 (although other retailers tend to get products shortly before this site does, at least in my experience).
At this point, my wallet essentially acts as a pipeline funnelling money directly to Fantasy Flight. Can't wait for this one.
How long is the normal wait from rules post to game sale?
Yes- the rules are up, which means it's almost here.
