Announcing Return to Mirkwood for The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game
The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game | Published 14 July 2011

“The Ring passed out of knowledge and legend; and even so much of its history is known now only to a few, and the Council of the Wise could discover no more. But at last I can carry on the story, I think.”
–Gandalf, The Fellowship of the Ring

Fantasy Flight Games is proud to announce the upcoming release of Return to Mirkwood, the sixth and conclusive Adventure Pack in the Shadows of Mirkwood cycle for The Lord of the Rings: The Card Game!

Gandalf the Grey suspects the wretched creature known as Gollum holds the key to thwarting the Dark Lord of Mordor. In Return to Mirkwood, the heroes of Middle-earth have captured Gollum and must escort him back to Mirkwood for interrogation in King Thranduil’s palace. With the information he might gain from the interrogation, Gandalf hopes to piece together the truth of the One Ring’s fate in order to keep it out of the Dark Lord’s clutches.

There is no time to waste! Sauron also seeks the Ring, and his reach has grown long.

Mordor draws all wicked things

Returning Gollum to Thranduil’s palace won’t prove easy. The journey to Mirkwood is filled with peril. Even bound and captured, Gollum sows chaos with fits and tantrums, always watching for a moment to strike at his captor or to escape. His fits draw new predatory creatures to the heroes’ path, and in order to cut distance and time off the journey, the heroes must travel through some of the forest’s darkest and most dangerous locations.

Meanwhile, the Dark Lord’s servants have issued forth from Mordor to seek the One Ring. The Enemy has learned the Ring has been found after its long absence. He knows, also, the name Baggins and has heard of the Shire and of hobbits. As they transport their prisoner, the heroes must remain wary of the Dark Lord’s agents.

Gollum found his way to Mordor, seeking allies as he thirsted for revenge. What transpired in that dark land is unknown, but he was allowed to depart on an errand of mischief, though his worst mischief had already been done. He has given the Dark Lord a clue to the location of the One Ring.

Return to Mirkwood in time to gain the information needed to meet the Dark Lord’s threat. The truth will be revealed when this final chapter of the Shadows of Mirkwood cycle releases in the fourth quarter of 2011. Until then, check here for updates, and join the fight against Mordor’s growing threat on our community forums.

You might want to look "conclusory" up in a dictionary before using it again to describe your products.

Wow, that encounter card is brutal!  I love the box art, too; really sets the mood for this adventure pack being the final and (presumably) most difficult of the entire cycle.  Epic!

Good point Apophenia! Guess it's a good idea to help those eagles out!

I don't think our return trip to mirkwood is going to be as easy as it was the first time... :)

Presuming it releases the week of Christmas. Would fit quite snuggly in a stocking. That'll also be one year from The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey's release in theaters. I guess one cool thing about the delay will mean January will be the start of a new chapter pack arc.

Amusingly since Gollum is a creature you can use Radagast's ability to heal damage off of him.

Very interesting!

I'd probably throw Gollum under the watch of a Tactics deck and give it plenty of Spirit threat reduction support.
