Two characters for this weekend's Black Crusade adventure at Free RPG Day
Black Crusade | Published 14 June 2011

For centuries, the starship Chains of Judgement served the Inquisition of the Imperium, transporting humanity’s most dangerous prisoners to their doom. Now, however, the Chains of Judgement is lost in the warp, and the imprisoned renegades have one chance to escape their grim fate. If they succeed, they’ll earn the favour of the Ruinous Powers, taking the first steps towards leading a Black Crusade against the Imperium itself...

Don’t forget! Free RPG day, an annual event that encourages RPG enthusiasts to demo current and upcoming titles, is this weekend...and you’re invited to play Broken Chains, an introductory adventure for Black Crusade! When the dark gods show you an opportunity to escape certain death at the hands of the Imperium, will you have the cunning and strength to seize it?

The Ruinous Powers await

This free introduction to Black Crusade includes a full adventure, four pre-generated characters, and a set of basic rules to help players and Game Masters become familiar with the Black Crusade roleplaying game. See if your local retailer is participating at the Free RPG Day Retailer Locator.

But what if you have a larger group? Today on our support page, we're pleased to offer two additional pre-generated characters for use in Broken Chains! Download them in preparation of this weekend's exciting adventure.

I notice the point is made that both characters are willing to work with others - unless someone gets in their way. A BC party may have to be very careful not to trigger a shooting match between PCs.

Yeah I saw both of those, I expected the one in the lower corner of the character sheet, but not the stat line.  I also notice it seems to be a matter of being the Infamy bonus is the one in the bottom corner, but if you reach "Black Crusade" level at 140, is it then possible that this is the only stat that can go above 100?  Or does anyone here think there will be a special "gimme-more-cool-goodies-cause-I'm awesome-and-deserve-your-stuff-more-than-you-do" talent that doubles (OR EVEN TRIPLES!!) that bonus?

@Night Lord: Having looked at the adventure booklet (since I'm running it Saturday), I don't want to spoil anything. But yeah, Infamy is on the stat line, if that gives you a clue :P.  I'll also give a hint that there is somewhere else on the PC sheet where Infamy is listed ... hmm related?

@redhead222: The basic PCs and adventure are in the Broken Chains demo adventure booklet, which is being played Saturday specifically for Free RPG day. It wouldn't be reasonable to provide those to players before the event, now would it?  Don't worry, a week or two afterwards and FFG normally puts the RPG day book up in pdf form online for everyone.

@Cipher
Yeah, I knew it would play out like profit factor and what not..  I just didn't realize it would be a full stat.  It made me giddy with wonder at the possibility of putting my hard-earned xp into upping it.

 Also, cultist-ch- er, Kastala the Scarred doesn't look like she needs her hand held by the big scary Space Marine.

 @Nightlord

Infamy is described a few diaries before. It seems to be the equivalent to Influence and Profit Factor, dictating what gear and favours you can bribe, threaten and haggle for (mostly threaten). Though the mechanics appear to have changed somewhat... I'm intrigued...

well either way, you are going to be outshined in a combat situation if an astartes is involved.  The humans are there for every situation that might involve less bolter and chainsword and a little more ...idk... finesse?

Hmmm.... bloodthirsty space marine and vengeful psykers on the loose. I think this could become a fine jailbreak!

@SM lack of talent
Well, I would not overrate this little cardboard-figures. Because that is what they are. Remember how "stat-less" the RT freebee pc where and what options where later available in the actual game? I guess this will be the same thing.

...but yes, I guess that the SM will be lacking in skills compared to the "humans". Or in resources/allies or in any other way. Otherwise, it would be "just spacemarine" for everbody but the really-really-really RPG-driven. And even these do not stomach being outshined on every moment. Especially not by an SM ;0)

BLOOD FOR THE BLOOD GOD!
also, I notice that Enlightened "chaos" space marines happen to have much... much less in way of talents and skills starting off, but I suppose that makes sense, being a way to assist in the balancing act between Astartes and normal humans.

Did anyone notice the new stat that just popped up?  Infamy?  I hope we'll be able to up that like a normal stat through xp.  That would greatly assist me in my future crusade.
