Announcing Those Who Walked Amongst Us for Anima: Beyond Fantasy
Anima: Beyond Fantasy RPG | Published 09 June 2011

We were wrong.
We, in our arrogance, thought
we were the masters of this world.
But we had only forgotten the truth…
or did not want to see it.
They were here all along.
Fairy tales. Nightmares.
They were all real.
We exist… for now,
but only until “they” return.
They…
Those who walked amongst us…

Fantasy Flight Games is pleased to announce an upcoming supplement for Anima: Beyond Fantasy, the roleplaying game of dark fantasy. Those Who Walked Amongst Us is the definitive book of creatures and monsters from the world of Gaïa. Within its pages you will find the stories and statistics for beings that tread between gods and men, between the Maidens of Light and the Lords of Darkness.

Draw upon the rich resources of Those Who Walked Amongst Us to enrich your campaign with High Elder Elementals, C’iel and Gaira dragons, Oni, Succubi, and Demon Queens and Princes. Find the origin of Omega, the ultimate being, who is prophesied to bring about the end of time. Anything is possible as you can utilize any of nearly a hundred of the most spectacular creatures and entities described in glorious detail and illustrated with full color images that bring them to life.

More Than Just a Bestiary!

Additional rules and information in Those Who Walked Amongst Us provide even more options for your campaign:

  • Creature creation: Find new powers and abilities unique to creatures, from physical transformation to the most prodigious divine capabilities.
  • Lost souls: Three new playable races, the Devah, the Vetala, and the Tuan Dalyr, and their Nephilim.
  • Campaign seeds: Tons of ideas and suggestions for any Game Master to use in his game, from a single session to the most colossal campaign.
  • New combat systems: Alternative rules for mass battles, which allow characters to fight against hundreds of opponents in a simple, dynamic way, and rules for dramatic combat, which spectacularly increase the satisfactory resolution of epic confrontations.
  • Forgotten stories: The secrets of the ancient creatures of Gaïa and the role they have played in history, from the mysteries of the Machine to the dark world of infernal creatures.
  • Unique entities: Details of the most powerful creatures of legend, such as Gurmah-Gharus, the Calamity of the Desert; Dementia, the Lord of Nightmares; and Omega, himself, the Ultimate Being.

Before Rah’s machine, mystical creatures lived openly across Gaïa. Their quiescence through the ages has led many to think of them merely as myths, but they are real. And they walk among us. Be prepared for when they show themselves in the third quarter of 2011.

Set in the fantasy world of Gaïa, Anima: Beyond Fantasy is a critically acclaimed roleplaying game that features a dynamic and flexible system for high adventure and immersive storytelling.

I really love this system.  Almost all of my regular group agree that it is a much better system for actual story-telling than d&d.  Every book that comes out only reinforces that, and I am excited that it looks like they are speeding up their release schedule!
