Black Gold, the game of drilling and discovery for 2-5 prospectors, is now on sale at your local retailer and on our webstore! Join the race for wealth on the Permian Basin by claiming the best wells, bidding wisely against your neighbors, and selling your oil at the highest price. Find and take advantage of profitable gushers because when the game ends the player with the most money is the winner.
A wallet full of Texas Tea
Originally published as the German Giganten, Black Gold was revised by Fantasy Flight Games and designer Wilko Manz to include streamlined rules, a modular board, and lively and colorful components.
Players secure their wealth by exploring the terrain featured on the modular board for oil wells, surveying and building derricks. Once oil has been drilled, players transport their oil to one of three oil companies and attempt to win the right to sell at auction.
Black Gold has a unique game component that measures the length of gameplay: the Oil Baron’s train, representing the greedy East Oil companies, moves every turn, and once it makes it to the end of the dusty train tracks the game ends.
The landscape of the Texas Oil business can be fickle and lonely as it is arid. Strategize against your competitors before they upset your play through special actions, bluff during auctions, or worse! Easy to learn, and with an abundance of gameplay choices including optional rules, Black Gold is a satisfying and exciting contest of strategy and exploration.
