- House Tully words
Fantasy Flight Games is pleased to announce the upcoming release of Lords of the River, an ally force expansion for Battles of Westeros! The Riverlands have been devastated by the War of Five Kings as battles wage through the heart of the Seven Kingdoms. House Tully has begun to muster its forces, seeking to help put an end to the fighting by aiding House Stark in their efforts to quell House Lannister.
Lords of the River introduces House Tully to Battles of Westeros as an ally force, meaning they can supplement House Stark or, if playing with the Skirmish rules, House Lannister from the Core Set. Ally forces such as those found in Lords of the River are represented as tan colored miniatures on the board, differentiating them from the forces of the house they are supporting. This provides greater customization for Skirmish battles and allows players to easily find their allied troops on the field during battle.
Included in Lords of the River are are three new commanders and three new unit types, all loyal to the leaping trout of House Tully. Lead your troops with Edmure Tully, Brynden “Blackfish” Tully, or Marq Piper, and lay waste to your foes with Tully River Riders, Tully Longbowmen, and the Warriors of Wayfarer’s Rest.
New keywords such as Riverborn and Indirect Fire will give you an edge when fighting near rivers or hindering terrain, representing House Tully’s familiarity with fighting in the Riverlands.
In addition to these new forces, Lords of the River also comes with a rules and battle plan book, new terrain, and House Tully Gambit and Skirmish cards. Lords of the River will also be the first expansion to feature the new Battles of Westeros Premium Banners, replacing the cardboard token banners from the Core Set.
Stay tuned for more information on Lords of the River, coming later this winter!
Set in the rich and vibrant world of George R.R. Martin’s Song of Ice and Fire series, Battles of Westeros is a board game of tactical battlefield combat for two players. With scenarios that include beloved characters and settings, players can recreate the most significant battles from The War of the Five Kings.
Nice choice, will be bought! I hope there will be other great houses and a campaign mode.
I expect we'll get another Tully type expansion, maybe Fey &/or Mountain Clans before FFG rolls out another Major House. The amount of material available to be mined here is massive but I do hope that sometime this coming year another Major House will at least be announced.
I'd prefer a wholly new independent faction in its own right, even if it would cost more than the expansions released so far. House Baratheon, preferably.
Caboose - I'm not sure why you're bitching about the lack of support for Battlelore here. Why not take it to the Battlelore mini-site proper where it belongs or take it up with FFG directly if you feel so inclined.
Clearly FFG has invested in the Westeros universe with the number of games in that setting increasing. And with the new HBO tv series due to start in April one would expect that exposure to Westeros to increase and potentially bump up game sales as well.
Personally I'm looking forward to seeing what additional expansions come out for BOW given the large number of factions fighting within Westeros and not forgetting Daenerys across the sea and those armies beyond the wall.
they are NOT supporting Battlelore - trust me, I've been here since the get go. Everything has been REHASH of old stuff. NOTHING new from FFG proper - even Richard has posted less as well. No support for the forum either. So please don't reply back if you don't have your facts straight.
Hope to see very soon a *huge* set for naval battles. I'd love to see Greyjoy and Tyrell joining the Battles of Westeros asap! Keep'em coming! And please, a campaign mode would be very appreciated
I'm interested in this but need to catch up with the other two expansions that I bought that haven't seen much table time first.
Caboose, FFG has been supporting Battlelore. They're converting the French versions to restock the Core Set supply, the previously unreleased expansion "Bearded Brave" is arriving in stores now, they've announced a new expansion "Code of Chivalry," and they've also announced that they'll be reprinting the old expansions. But it's much easier to find this information on the Battlelore mini-site rather than on Battles of Westeros updates.
I'm really excited for this. And smilek, you nailed it: a campaign variant would be deee-lightful.
And just one question:
Can we wait for BoW campaign mode?
The most lame choice...neither a new house nor a side changing sub-faction like Frey or Bolton.
Even the Lannister Puppet Riverlord from the novels as a maybe leader after a (forced) side change ist not included.
Great choice! If I was born in Westeros I'd been a Tully. :)
and sadly, Battlelore is getting the "shaft" of not getting anything new - even though Westeroes (cough cough) is based on Battlelore. come on FFG - support Battlelore as well!! Everything for Battlelore has been basically rehash of previously released items!!
