A Warhammer: Invasion card of the week |

The vile taint spreads like wildfire, consuming everything until no purity remains. None are safe from the temptations of corruption, for it is not some outward foe that can be met with blade and shield, but the recognition of the hidden lusts and desires that nestle in every being’s soul.
Welcome back to the Warhammer: Invasion card of the week spotlight, in which we highlight a new upcoming card every week! It’s November, and that means we have another installment of The Enemy Cycle to look forward to. Last week, we drank the murky waters of the Tainted Well, and we saw how it can be used to deal serious damage in a corruption-heavy deck. This week, the taint spreads to a place even more vital than your water supply... your very soul.
Thematically, corruption represents a character succumbing to his baser instincts and becoming incapacitated with fear, lust, rage, pain, insanity, or some other debilitating condition. Certain powerful effects like Effulgent Boils can make this state permanent, but for the most part it’s only temporary. A character can journey inward and seek redemption, becoming “restored” as early as the start of the next turn. But what if there is no relief to be found? What if the sources of purity and redemption are themselves corrupted? What will stop the spread of corruption then?
Corruption of Purity is a Destruction-only neutral Tactic that exemplifies this unsettling scenario. Played in response to restoring effects like Blessing of Isha and Courage of Aenarion, it will set your opponent back in his attempts to combat corruption. What’s more, Dark Elf players will find a new control combo when Corruption of Purity is coupled with Chillwind.
Keep watching store shelves, since The Fourth Waystone will arrive in about two weeks. In the meantime, check back next time for another Warhammer: Invasion card of the week!
Warhammer: Invasion The Card Game is a card
game by Eric M. Lang in which 2 players develop their kingdoms and lay waste to their foes. Each side is comprised of either the forces of Order or the forces of Destruction as they seek to extend their empire to include the entire Old World. The Living Card Game format allows players to customize their gaming experience with monthly Battle Pack expansions to the core game.
I definitely see it has limited use, but I think that use can be powerful at the same time. We'll see.
Again, since it says "target", it will really only stop them from uncorrupting one particular unit...and even that is dependent upon them having other units the zone to corrupt after. So, unless it's a REALLY important unit, it's not really work it.
It is not an action, that I'm aware of, just like gaining resources in not an action during the kingdom phase. Just play this card during the 0 phase and your opponent will probably choose not to restore anyone since the 'free' restore each turn is during the kingdom phase.
@ wytefang: "It's a solid card though it would be better if it worked on the opening turn Restore players get...which it still might."
Why wouldn't it really? You can play this card during Phase 0, they get to uncorrupt in Phase 1 (IIRC). And CoP lasts until the end of the turn. Only trouble is the "target unit" part. And the non-response playability currently to that free Restore.
Also, just sent this question into James. :)
Swingjunkie, that makes sense but I wonder if they don't actually consider the free uncorruption to be, in fact, an Action. I'm guessing that maybe they do.
To Rasdsaris, it's still extremely useful for a Corruption-based deck and it's your choice to keep your deck size between a certain range. In fun play you can always go higher. Granted I tend to agree with you that 50-55 is the right range for sheer potency but you could go a bit higher and still have your deck work, imho.
It's a solid card though it would be better if it worked on the opening turn Restore players get...which it still might.
Absolutely MEH card, you cannot respond to "restoring a unit" at the beggining, there is so many cards more usefull, and only 50-54 card slots in deck...
TARGET unit. So I have to pick a single unit. If I pick A, they can pick B. I can only target A after they've picked A if uncorrupting once per turn is an action and I can target it in response.
It could have been worded "when a unit is uncorrupted", but it wasn't.
Doesn't say that the beginning of the turn free uncorruption activity has to be an action - the card simply says that when something is restored from being corrupted, 2 other cards become corrupted. Looks like it works to me. :)
A really impressive card. The Fourth Waystone is looking very intersting, can't wait when it hits the stores. And two weeks from now is not so far away. I'm waiting :)
Could not find anything about the zones, but it does not look like I can respond to restoring of a corrupted card. According to the rules/FAQ - players may play actions, then restore character, then discard unspent resources and count resources, then players can play actions again.
The only way I see this working is if I a corrupted character during the action phase, but the player can still decide not to restore the character. In the rules it says the player may restore.
It will however make the player keep the the character corrupted or 2 others become corrupt.
Actually, is your one uncorruption per turn an action? If not, you can't play this in response to it right? In that case, this could be used to help dictate WHICH creature you opponent chooses to uncorrupt.
