Artifacts of Unearthly Power 18
A look at the gift bag for attendees of Arkham Nights, an upcoming event
Arkham Nights | Published 02 September 2010

I recall that the people went about with pale and worried faces, and whispered warnings and prophecies which no one dared consciously repeat or acknowledge to himself that he had heard. A sense of monstrous guilt was upon the land, and out of the abysses between the stars swept chill currents that made men shiver in dark and lonely places.
- H.P. Lovecraft, "Nyarlathotep"

It is nearly upon us. The prophecies warn of a great gathering, where powerful forces will convene to face unimaginable unearthly horrors... and to decide humanity’s fate. But who will rise up in mankind’s hour of need? With what weapons will they fight this growing evil? And what otherworldly artifacts will they claim from its clutches?

Back in June we announced Arkham Nights, a three-day event celebrating FFG’s Cthulhu Mythos-themed board and card games. October 22nd-24th, join us at the spacious Fantasy Flight Games Event Center in Roseville, MN for three days of supernatural horror and cosmic dread! With tournaments, seminars, a costume contest, and more, Arkham Nights will immerse you in the occult horror of H.P. Lovecraft’s chilling universe, and unless you keep your wits about you, the price may be your very sanity...

But if you aren’t among those who have already signed up for this momentous event, hurry to our webstore to reserve your space today! Attendees will receive a gift bag full of exciting exclusive Cthulhu-themed content, including:

  • An exclusive Arkham Nights event guidebook including an interview with our designers, an overview of our various Cthulhu-themed titles, and more!
  • Two new Great Old One cards for Arkham Horror. Be among the first to face the terror of these ancient terrors!
  • A cloth drawstring monster bag for Arkham Horror. This stylish black velvet bag features an Elder Sign emblazoned on its front!
  • Three custom domain cards for Call of Cthulhu: The Card Game. Featuring stunning art, these cards will help you mark your in-game resources in style!

Arkham Nights presents a weekend of gaming deeply immersed in Lovecraftian horror through our board game Arkham Horror as well as our Living Card Game Call of Cthulhu: The Card Game. The date is fast approaching, and unimaginable otherworldly horrors stand poised to invade Roseville, Minnesota. Will you stand against them? Register today, and prepare to be lost in time and space!

The Fantasy Flight Games Event Center is a spacious gaming facility offering a variety of exciting hobby gaming events in one comfortable and welcoming location. Located at 1975 Oakcrest Avenue in Roseville, MN, the Fantasy Flight Games Event Center is open for gaming six days a week.

Who cares about 2 new ancient ones? Seriously BGG will have them uploaded. And also Avidreader and Veet have posted mor ethan I care to count in the section FFG SHOULD be contributing to.

*Hint* Players SHOULD NOT be making material to keep game alive while you sit back and produce 150 other products. How about putting some of that passion you seem to have for your products before release, into the franchises after release also. Not sure if you are aware but Arkham Horror the base game is out of print atm, at least that is what my distributor says and he is getting ticked because he has all of these expansions but no base game. So what is the point of this event if you have no base games to sell? Better have Arkham (I believe your top selling product) in stock before this event.

Happily signed,

Darkkami

P.S. Bring back more story based scenarios like the arkham league. Or new map setups for Twilight. Or new dungeons for Descent, or even more custom scenarios for Starcraft? Any support at all would be great! I personally feel you have left many of your games in the dust, great games mind you. Simple custom or downloadable variants keep games alive and selling.

But seriously though if you read:

# Two all-new, never-before-printed Great Old Ones for Arkham Horror. Be among the first to face the terror of these ancient terrors!

While people who attend the event will be amongst the first to play with them, it seems to imply that they will be made available later. I wouldnt get panties in a wad. Conventions and events have promo stuff for people who go through the effort all the time to attend them. Promotional items are just that. While nice to have, they aren't mandatory to enjoy your games.
