A New World War 15
Announcing the upcoming release of Dust Tactics
Dust Tactics | Published 09 July 2010

The year is 1947. The war that started eight years ago when Germany invaded Poland isn’t over. Rather, the conflict has spread worldwide, and but a handful of countries cling to relative neutrality. Throughout the world, three major superpowers fight to claim exclusive control over a revolutionary source of power. Elite troops and massive combat robots wage violent battles to claim this energy source as their own while denying it to their enemies... and this is the story of such a battle.

Fantasy Flight Games is excited to announce the upcoming release of Dust Tactics! In an alternate 1940s reality, alien technology fuels gigantic machines of war as the forces of the Axis and Allies clash over rare mineral deposits that could inevitably decide the outcome of the war. Dust Tactics is a tactical miniatures board game for 2-4 players, set in the engrossing world created by renowned artist Paolo Parente.

With over 30 highly detailed miniatures, 9 double-sided terrain boards, 12 custom dice, unit cards, a variety of terrain, and plastic scenery, Dust Tactics delivers everything you need to play the game. One of the most eye-catching features of Dust Tactics is the quality of the miniatures. Each miniature is a unique sculpt depicting a type of the soldiers or machine of war, which makes tracking your troops an easy, enjoyable, and engrossing experience.

From the combat robots – enormous vehicles of war with a fearsome destructive capacity – to the ranks of individual soldiers, the level of detail on each miniature is exquisite. Each figure has its own individual character and feel, standing out from the other members of its unit. This makes tracking certain members of a given unit much easier. In addition, each miniature is sculpted to reflect the type of equipment they carry. The masked recon grenadiers, rugged combat rangers, and ruthless commanders take on a life of their own, drawing players into a rich and violent world at war.

Dust Tactics comes complete with easy-to-follow rules as well as a campaign book entitled Operation: Blue Thunder. This book features eight individual scenarios linked together by an overarching narrative. In addition to the provided scenarios, Dust Tactics also provides rules on how to make your own battlefields and scenarios.

The easy-to-learn rules will have you battling in no time. Gameplay takes place over a series of rounds. At the start of the round, players roll for initiative. Whoever wins gets to activate one of their units first, followed by the other player. This continues until all the units have been activated, and then a new round begins. Combat resolution is also a breeze in Dust Tactics. Players only need to reference the amount of dice they need to roll for an attack, roll the custom six-sided dice, and look for the target symbols that indicate a success. It’s really just that easy. Each unit summary card lists the stats for each weapon that unit carries, as well as what they need to roll when targeting certain opponents. Players will be able to focus on their tactical strategies rather than constantly consulting hit resolution charts as with many miniature war games. Dust Tactics lets you get straight into the action!

I do hope it'll be prepainted I've got enough armies I'm painting on. Some cheap prepainted minis for a nice casual wargame system would be a nice change and cause me to jump on this.
Especially since I may finally manage to draw my dad in with it.

This looks really cool. I like the AT-43 Stuff a lot and this looks very similar and that's a good thing!

Isn't this the background, written by an Italian, whereby the evil 1930s Axis consists of Germany, Japan and Africa (i.e. Africa neatly replaces Italy?). It always struck me as a bit politically dodgy, though there may be some redeeming nuance that I'm missing.

I hope for some good expansions for it! Mechs + WWII + FFG = MUST BUY . I wonder if they will make those tankish mechs more than just different looking tanks

I've been signed up to play in (2) Tactics events. I just hope the FFG folks are up to speed on the rules. I'm not saying they won't be but its not a lot of time to really learn the ins and outs of a game.

The indistinct tiles are a bit 'meh', and what's that pad on the right? A score pad?

I can't wait for this game to be out. The only thing is that I can't possibly go to Gen Con (I live in Puerto Rico) and get the exclusive figures that will be given there. Does any one think they'll be available anywhere else? But I really want this game!!!!!!
