Announcing Union and Reich Troop Packs for Tannhäuser
Tannhauser | Published 10 May 2010

“MacNeal, you’re breaking up, please repeat.”
“...We’re under heavy...[static]...We can’t hold out for...[static]...”
“Roger that. Reinforcements are on their way. ETA: fifteen min-”
“They’re everywhere! Look out for...[static, gunfire]”

The war is escalating between the Union and the Reich. As the battles grow more and more critical, additional support is vital. Fortunately, reinforcements are set to arrive soon, just in time for an upcoming shift in battle plans...

Fantasy Flight Games is excited to announce the upcoming release of Troop Packs for use with Tannhäuser! Coming this summer, each pack further expands the Union and Reich factions by adding additional troops, tokens, and scenarios.

The Reich Troop Pack includes new Schocktruppen and Stossstruppen figures, while the Union Troop Pack comes with new Commando Alpha and Commando Delta figures. Additionally, these expertly detailed pre-painted figures all feature an alternate color scheme, making it easy for players to differentiate these new troops from the ones found in the core game.

These Troop Packs give players new options when constructing their forces, and they provide an all new equipment pack for their Troops! Each pack also features brand new background information, a unique scenario, and all new tokens in addition to the ones found in the core set. With these packs in hand, players will now be able to use the alternate organization of two Heroes and three Troopers. As Troopers are the only characters able to benefit from reinforcement, they are now more important than ever.

With new figures, tokens, and scenarios, these Troop Packs are the perfect way to reinforce your faction for the coming battles. And, with the Tannhäuser Revised Edition Rulebook rapidly approaching shelves, each faction will need more firepower than ever before!

Tannhäuser is a squad based tactical board game set in an alternate timeline in which WWI has never ended. The forces of the Reich have turned to the occult, while the forces of the Union have delved into alien technology and developed deadly weapons of war. Using the revolutionary Path-Finding System, Tannhäuser is quick and easy to play.

I've been waiting for these troop packs to come out for sometime, but I really don't like the new color scheme I liked the old colors better, because I was planning to buy these in mass ,so if I did, I'd have an army of brown coat Shocktroopers with two random black ones (from the original game) throw in,not to mention that these troops dont match with the hero units,so I can't in good faith buy these,as much as I've been waiting and wanting new troops for the game,I really can't.

Well, not really *new* but i'm happy that Tannhäuser finally is moving again. Feels like an eternaty since the last update.

I find 20 Bucks pretty much for more of the same. 15$ would be quite alright. Oh and Printed Winterpacks would boo sooooo awesome! Selfmade stuff just doesn't look as good.

I'm also eager to know, what happend to Hass, Oksana and Hoax. Some Legendary Heroes for Reich and Union would be fun.

And last but not least, i hope the new Rulebook lists all of the additional equipment. I hate to have to go through all these leaflets of the additional characters.

Well, regarding the price: we pay appr. 10$ für 1 Miniature (Wolf, Yula, etc.), so 20 Bucks for 2 painted Minis with new tokens isn´t that bad.

But I wonder when Operation Daedalus will hit the shelves? Spring 10 seems not very promising at the moment :-(

Awesome! Just hope the Mastriarchy version gets actual troops instead of voivodes. Then with the release of Daedalus, Tannhauser will feel like a playable game.

As I've already made conversions for my extra grunt troopers, I hope FFG will eventually put the included scenarios here on the net for free.

Glad to see, though, that they have made the obvious smart decision to make the extra troopers available so the game can be played as proclaimed in the original TOY rules with said extra troopers.

Awesome!  This is really cool to see, although it would have been a blast to have some new troop models.

Yeah, am I really going to spend $10 each on four figures I already have? . . . Oh, who am I kidding?  Of course I am, but it would have been nice to have at least one new figure in there.  If you can now play with two heroes and three troops, it seems like a missed opportunity to put out a three pack of troops with the two originals plus an exciting new one.  However, I'm still very excited to see "new" Tannhauser products about to hit the shelves, especially the new rulebook.

My guess is that they'll release the Matriarchy Troop Pack when they'll release Oksana Gusarenko.

Right now I'm more disappointed by the price tag. I think that charging $19.95 for two troops and some tokens is just too steep. Maybe it's too low for production costs but I think $14.95 was what I thought it would cost...

BTW back when they were announced by ToY, they planned to offer a Mental (now Command) Pack option for the Troops, is this still the Plan ?
