Charging to the Front Line 6
A look at The Warpstone Chronicles for Warhammer: Invasion
Warhammer: Invasion The Card Game | Published 06 April 2010

Young, hot-headed, and eager to prove themselves on the field on battle, the mounted Pistoliers of the Empire charge into battle while other more cautious soldiers lag behind. Since leaders so often rise from among the most decorated knights, the sons of nobles are anxious to join the Pistoliers as a stepping-stone to a bright military future... ensuring a sizable supply of soldiers willing to risk their lives. When one Pistolier falls, another is sure to be ready to leave the comfort of his father’s wealth to seek the glory of war.

Welcome to another card of the week for Warhammer: Invasion The Card Game! Now that Assault on Ulthuan has hit store shelves, we’ve turned our attention to the next release: the upcoming fifth Battle Pack in The Corruption Cycle, The Warpstone Chronicles!

Last week, we saw the awesome power of the Dwarf relic The Great Book of Grudges. Today, we’ll look at a unit that continues the Empire’s reputation as the most versatile faction in the game, the Vigilant Pistoliers.

If played correctly, these crafty riders are essentially invincible; if they’re destroyed while in your battlefield zone, you may put them into play in your kingdom zone! Want to ensure their longevity once again? Move them right back to the battlefield through a card like Forced March or Temple of Shallya... or attach the Battle Standard to them and let them move themselves.

On the subject of attachments, however, be aware of one important point: Even though the Vigilant Pistoliers are put back into play when destroyed, they’re still destroyed momentarily. This means that any attachments on them at the time of their “death” must be discarded. The aforementioned Battle Standard, for example, can’t stay with them through the process of this move to the kingdom zone... so you’ll have to find a new way to move the Vigilant Pistoliers back to the battlefield every time you want to.

Join us next week for another Warhammer: Invasion card of the week!

Warhammer: Invasion The Card Game is a card game by Eric M. Lang in which 2 players develop their kingdoms and lay waste to their foes. Each side is comprised of either the forces of Order or the forces of Destruction as they seek to extend their empire to include the entire Old World. The Living Card Game format allows players to customize their gaming experience with monthly Battle Pack expansions to the core game.

I find it somewhat annoying that they choose to release multiple instances of the same unit rather than covering other units from the Warhammer background. Like, do we need two types of Pistoliers when there are no Outriders? Or two types of Rat Ogres when Plague Monks are unheard of? I understand these units may be done at some point in the future but that does not invalid my point.

@ tobogan,

ya it isnt that powerful to start, but what about that shrine to tall.

Also after it attacks your opponents battlefield 5 times it starts to pay off ( or when it saves your battlefield 5 times)

I really don't see it useful, its too expensive for just one power and 2 hit points.
