Announcing the BattleLore: Horrific Horde Goblin Army Pack
Battlelore | Published 18 March 2010
Goblinoids: Rumored to have their origins in little traveled desert areas, these diminutive creatures and their larger brethren, the Hobgoblins, behave cowardly if cornered, but beware, for they are brutally vicious when fighting in greater numbers.

Coming this Summer, Fantasy Flight Games is proud to announce a major release that will have Goblinoid commanders across the realm screeching with delight. Get ready for the BattleLore: Horrific Horde Goblin Army Pack, the newest expansion set for BattleLore that comes jam-packed with exactly what you need to field an entirely Goblinoid army!
BattleLore: Horrific Horde provides fourty-two additional figures for your BattleLore army, including two never-before-seen troop types, as well as even more of the primary Goblinoid staples that are available in both the core set and the Goblin Marauders expansion. With all these added units, Goblins will no longer be relegated to serving as mercenary forces for a standard human army. The time has come to let loose the fury of the Horde!

The first new troop type that is found in BattleLore: Horrific Horde is the Goblin Halberdier. Goblin Halberdiers are speedy, highly mobile units that are armed with the medieval equivalent of a giant can opener. When they do stand and fight, they can battle toe-to-toe against most mounted units with some success. This can play a vital role in holding your ground when faced with the cavalry units of your enemies!
The second troop type carries a giant spiked club as its weapon of choice, the powerful Ogre. These gruesome and fierce opponents drive fear into the hearts of the bravest warriors for many reasons, not the least of which is that they fight in groups of three, and are living proof of the old adage "there is strength in numbers." Be wary when you see them lumbering across the battlefield towards your army.
In addition to the new troop types, and all the printed materials, you'll find even more of the units that form the backbone of any Goblinoid menace: Goblin Swordsmen, Hobgoblin Cavalry and Hobgoblin Hyena Riders. For any budding Goblinoid commander this expansion set is sure to be a dream come true!
You'll also find all the appropriate Unit Summary and Specialist cards, plus Weapon Summary cards with the updated Sling rules for use with your Goblin Slinger units. In addition we've included fifteen Deployment cards for use with the Call to Arms Expansion set, which will allow you to fully customize your Goblin army and let you tailor your fighting force to the best strategic effect. Finally, a rulebook with five brand new adventures rounds out this fantastic addition to the BattleLore line.
Keep a vigilant watch this Summer, for the world of BattleLore will never be the same!
Set in a world that bridges history and fantasy, BattleLore is board game that puts players in command of a vast array of miniature troops on the battlefields of medieval Europe. Using the easy-to-learn Commands and Colors system, players can wage thrilling battles without a lengthy time commitment.

P.S.: I'm particularly happy that they will keep supporting Call to Arms.

Wow! I had just about given up on FFG. But this is great news! I'm setting aside pessimism and hoping for more good things to come.

This is a relief.  No more annoying attempts to make BL into some sort of roleplaying game (heroes) or adding more monsters (which neither myself nor my main opponent EVER use).

One less stress in my gaming if there was some news on TOI.

This is very good news. I would just like to chime in and say I would like to see a bit more variety races within Battlelore. Orcs or Elves to begin with. Dwarves and Goblins are great, but I think we have enough of those for now.

I'm glad FFG got this right this time. This is the Battlelore that people know and love. People were either skeptical to outraged about that BoW thing and I thought that BL took a turn for the worse, esp. with reprint problems going with the core product. But the announcement of these pesky green guys gives me hope. Kudos FFG, you got this one right!

Now if we can only get that BL core set back in print again...

I'm interested to see what they BL release schedule turns into. I'm assuming they'll also be releasing a dwarf pack (wonder if they'll keep the spearmen as the standard infantry in the CTA decks?), but I wonder where the timeline will fall with Con season, as they generally try to have some big releases around the time of GenConwhich would be the perfect time for a new race (unless Summer 2010 means this and the dwarves will hit in Indy)!

This makes me happy.  I know I posted some pretty harsh comments when Westeros was announced.  Had this Horrific Horde announcement been made prior to the Westeros announcement, FFG might have lessened the backlash against that game by fans of the original BattleLore (myself included).  At least it showed that BattleLore still has a strong and dedicated fanbase.

My wife and I love the goblins, so the thought of being able to field a full Goblin Army is truly exciting.  I am especially pleased that new Call to Arms Deployment Cards will be a part of this expansion.  The Ogres look fantastic too.  In my opinion, this is definitely a step in the right direction and hopefully a sign that classic BattleLore will live on.  <sigh of relief>  Thank you FFG.

I will admit that I was skeptical of the future of BattleLore after BoW was announced.  But now it looks like FFG is moving in the right direction.  This is an expansion that people have been requesting for a long time.  More goblins to complete the army and the deployment cards, no less.

Excellent work!  I hope there are more to come...

Excellent. Ditto all the enthusiastic responses and sighs of relief.  BL is too good a franchise to let it just fade away ingloriously.

Now, we need Elves, and more Elves, and plenty of Elves...and Skeletons and Undead, lots of Undead,   and Magic...yes, more magic.....

I too feared for our beloved Battelore with the announcement of Battles of Westeros (which in itself might be another great title) and I'm completely RELIEVED and excited to see FFG maintaining continuity with Battlelore. Way to go! Thanks FFG!

Thanks FFG; Now if we can just get some news about future plans, including the Undead and Orc Charioteers ;o)

With the release of this Fantasy Race (and mayhap more coming), what's the chance of some expansions to the Magic Deck?  Perhaps with some decks or rules to differentiate the racial characteristics more?
