“When we are determined upon war, we should carry it on vigorously and without trifling.”
– Napoleon Bonaparte
For twenty years, from 1796 until the final defeat at Waterloo in 1815, Napoleon Bonaparte and his generals fought on the battlefields of all Europe. Now, you can recreate the excitement and danger of the Napoleonic Wars on your tabletop!
Fantasy Flight Games is pleased to announce the upcoming release of Battles of Napoleon, a board game for two players. Battles of Napoleon is a war simulation system that pits the forces of the French against the forces of the British, and this first game in the series, The Eagle and the Lion, includes ten gripping scenarios.
The Battles of Napoleon system is easy to learn, but it offers a wealth of strategic options; this gives you a fast and challenging game while at the same time pitting you against the same tactical problems that commanders of the Napoleonic age had to face. Well-coordinated use of infantry, cavalry and artillery, skillful maneuvering of your units and use of your formations, and knowledge of the strong and weak points of your troops, will all be essential in leading your army to victory.
Head over to our description page to learn more, then prepare for war!
Battles of Napoleon is a board game of strategic battles set in early 1800s Europe. Two players send orders, organize their various troops into formations, and manage their troop morale in an attempt to lead their armies to victory.
Yes well again the bank balance will take a hit and yes I don't care as long as I get it! Now as for future potential for this it is awesome if they let it run.
Additional add ons for all the different nations - then an operational europe wide strategic game using the figures already out, with new rules and a sweet looking board - then an all inclusive campaign system combining both the operational game dictating the tacical battles!
'Cry Havoc, and unleash the dogs of War!' Onward to Fame, Glory and Immortality!!
Looks like I'll have to put this on my "Must Buy" list. However, I am disappointed since I really think FFG could have easily done a grand strategy Napoleonic game instead. This one is tactical battles, which is OK if you are a tactical battlefield wargamer. Me? I'm a grand strategy CONQUER-THE-DAMN-CONTINENT and annex your enemies type of wargamer.
I know that has to be Mike Doyle artwork. LOVE IT!
Curse you FFG, and your infernal grasp on my wallet! Yes, another game to add to my 'must have' list.
Outstanding! Being an avid Napoleonic reader and gamer, I am definitely looking forward to buying this game!!!!
This is one I'll surely buy. At the moment I'm quite busy with Empire Total War in the computer and waiting for the Napoleon computer game, but I always prefer tactical boardgames to the computer's version...
Has FFG planned it in coordination with the Total War series?... In any case, I plan to buy both, and I hope this series becomes as successful as Tide of Iron from FFG, Battle Lore or Conflict of Heroes...
You are giving me a hard time, FFG. This year I was already quite busy with Descent and Warhammer 3rd RPG... Now the problem starts being which one to play...
It must bei mine!
It must bei mine!
It must bei mine!
Finally some great News on this one!!!
Waiting for this official announcement for months; too bad I couldn't save any $ for what looks like a promisingly awesome game. The pictured models look nicely detailed given that there are 200 included in the game, along with four back-printed boards.
If this sells well, I can imagine the first expansion will be Russians.
And this game is already produced and should be available very soon!
The only negative thing is, that you only can play it 1vs 1.... would be interesting with more players! But ...one is mine ;-))) ... saving still money!!!
Siegfried
I think that the third release will be ... LCG game :D
Wow, this is great news! My favourite game board company will make a game about my favourite age in history. I'm all pumped up. I only wonder will we see dragons and other fantasy creatures, just like in Battlelore, where we have historical battles mixed with fantasy elements.
