Announcing the Game Master's Toolkit for Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay
Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay | Published 15 January 2010

Game Master's ToolkitOne of the cryptic shadows hinted at earlier by Grey Wizard Gavius Klugge in our Shifting Through Shadows preview has finally become clear – I’m pleased to announce the upcoming Game Master’s Toolkit for Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay.

The Game Master’s Toolkit is a valuable resource for both new and veteran Game Masters. The toolkit is filled with a number of helpful tools and adventure seeds for Game Masters to enhance their Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay games, as well as provides more advice and suggestions to help refine their GM skills and get the most out of the materials and rules provided with the game.

One of the key features of the Game Master’s Toolkit is the large full colour screen. One side of the screen features gorgeous full colour art from the game. The other side of the screen features rule summaries and a wealth of information, including a built-in progress track, page references to important sections from the core rulebook, and a variety of charts and tables to help the GM keep his focus on the story.

The GM ScreenThe Game Master’s Toolkit also includes punchboard with more NPC and creature standups and tokens, a variety of new location and item cards, and introduces organisation sheets to integrate into your game. The toolkit also includes a full colour 48-page GM book.

The book features invaluable tips and guidelines to help a GM manage the game, engage his players, and create memorable adventures for his group. The book includes a number of detailed episode templates to help cut down on prep time, as well as introduces new rules for Nemesis Characters and Nemesis Organisations to challenge the heroes. Armed with the resources found in this toolkit, a GM will always be ready for action!

Stay tuned to the website for more information and sneak peeks about the Game Master’s Toolkit as in the coming weeks.

Warhammer Fantasy Roleplay is a roleplaying game that sets unlikely heroes on the road to perilous adventure, in the grim setting of Games Workshop's Warhammer Fantasy world. Players will venture into the dark corners of the Empire, guided by luck and Fate, and challenge the threats that others cannot or will not face.

I agree that it should be a heavy cardstock screen just like the Rogue Trader one, which is the prettiest screen I've seen in a long time.

The progress tracker could be a fold out that is attached at the bottom of the screen, so you could still place tokens on it etc.

The production values of the products to date has been wonderful so there's no reason to doubt it wont continue, is there?

I don't see why it should come with dice however if the booster blister is available - if you had a small group getting even more dice could become overkill.

I really want to see some of the item cards or really any information about Magic items, I always seem to make my own creations too overpowered. I also don't mind a non hardboard screen, most of those are priced almost as high as this product by themselves, i'll take whatever they can cram into this thing.

I hope this box will include a new print of the cards in the core set that were subject to an errata.

1. Make a hardback screen. It's pretty much the standard in RPGs now. Look at WotC, Paizo, and your own stuff.

2. Include an adventure.

3. Make sure there are LOTS of stand ups.

Gathering Storm is being listed for a mid March release and GM's Toolkit a mid April release. This seems pretty consistent with other WFRP and FFG products from listing as upcoming to retail.

I'll be getting this and the campaign book. I hope they are both here sooner rather than later. The one downside of Chinese printing is the long time it takes for the product to get over here on the boat.

Hmm - still not convinced even if the tracker is at the bottom - how do you manage variable length and event spaces?  I was looking forward to the screen to hide my custom tracks.  In any event, don't get me wrong, very keen on this set.

"Built-in progress track? Why bother - how are you going to use tokens to keep track on this track?"

The tracker is probably along the bottom edge, so you can place tokens on the table (right up next to it).

I like the sound of the locaton cards. Will see what the gathering storm brings first however before i rush out to buy this one.

Built-in progress track?  Why bother - how are you going to use tokens to keep track on this track?  Otherwise, looks OK, like the sound of more location cards etc.

Now that's what I was waiting for - a new GM screen (every Gm needs something like that ;)). I hope it will be avaliable soon, maybe with The Gathering Storm? That would be great, two titles buyed at once. :D

I hope to see more info about it soon.

I'm not playing WFRP3, but I've got to say, you can't beat the graphical presentation.  I so wish the game wasn't so dependent on counters..
