A video introduction to the grandeur and adventure of Runewars |
| Runewars | Published 23 December 2009 | Rating | 36 votes |

Runewars is an epic board game of conquest, adventure, and fantasy empires. Two to four players raise armies, gather resources, and race to collect the elusive and powerful dragon runes in the high-fantasy universe of Runebound.
Everytime I look at a different FFG game, I want it. It is driving me nuts.
When is the next preview out? Will the rulebook be revealed in it?
Come on, you're killing us FFG :D
Desired!, and soon to be in my collection.
Wow, looks nice, I hope you guys are going to send a copy to Board To Death TV for a video review!

Amazing video preview!
Please don't do that again. The tension is becoming unbearable right now! WANT WANT WANT WANT! :-)
Ohh, and the game looks awesome! This is one I've been watching very closely!
Cheers,
Giles.

I'm sure the potential for video game and board game tie ins is large. Especially given the succes of all the games you listed. However I'm not a big fan of playing video games (this is a personal opinion obviously!). I much prefer to play actual physical games with actual people I am sitting at a table with. Yes, the level of interaction has increased in modern computer games - the wii is a great example. But I am not a big fan. It's fun every now and then - but I still prefer to look across the table at other players, move the actual pieces and chat, laugh, joke, tease and play with the people I am with.
Another key consideration is the fact that with a computer game many things happen invisibly - with a board game the mechanics and scoring are all visible to the players. Geoff Engelstein from The Dice Tower podcast has made a few excellent observations about this in a few of his segments.
My preference of course. The age old argument of computer games killing board games will go on - but the board game industry has seen significant growth in the last 10 years - I for one hope it continues. I'd be greatly saddened if good games were simply released as computer versions - pixels just don't interest me! :D
Cheers,
Giles.
Well I'll be pre-ordering this for sure. However there is a very similiar game called Quest for the Dragon Lords which has been around for years but is much more basic (I enjoy it though!). This Rune Wars looks a few steps up in both game play and product.
Whats that about Tide of Iron as a pc game? I never got into it, although I bought it, to fiddly and complex to play quickly and easily. As a pc game it could be worth my money.
Nice looking, can't wait to see it in action.
This is game going to be good. I wish they would let us know the relationship between Terrinoth and Menarra, though.
Yeah, This one LOOKS AWESOME!!!
Paradiddlebob, I'd love to see FFG board games transported to the Xbox. For that matter, a year or so ago, there was an announcement that Tide of Iron was being turned into a computer game, but I haven't heard anything more about that since.
