A new benchmark for global participation

The FFG World Championships represent a hallmark moment in our Organized Play programs, and we’re thrilled to add this new, climactic level of competition to our yearly events!

The FFG World Championships mark the addition of another premier event to the North American Championships at Gen Con Indy 2012 and the numerous Championships held across Europe. Players from around the globe gain another fantastic chance to face top-level competition and the singular opportunity to compete against the world’s best in a single, climactic event.

While Gen Con Indy has been and will continue to be a fantastic venue for our games, our tournament participation in Indianapolis is almost entirely North American. Meanwhile, as our presence at Gen Con has grown, we have looked to showcase the best players for our LCGs and miniatures games at a venue where we could better focus on these prestigious championships, dedicating more of our staff time, and creating an even more engaging championship experience.

Moving our FFG World Championships to Roseville, Minnesota allows us to focus our energies more fully, ensuring that participants will enjoy greater support for the games they love. We can provide more time, more staff, and more undivided energy to this event, and we expect it to be an exciting, positive, and memorable experience.

Moreover, the realignment of the FFG World Championships better allows us to host champions from other nations and foster a truly global event! In fact, the following international partners are planning to send national champions to the FFG World Championships:

• Spain

With several more looking into their own arrangements, we will update this list as it grows.

Championship events

The FFG World Championships take place the weekend of November 7 – 10 in Roseville, Minnesota. We have secured a location that will support all the players and tournaments scheduled for this remarkable weekend event. It's a weekend you do not want to miss!

You can build upon the legacies of our LCGs (A Game of Thrones: The Card Game, Call of Cthulhu: The Card Game, Warhammer: Invasion The Card Game) and Dust Tactics, joining the halls of fame with other previous World Champions. Or you can write your name across the inaugural World Championships for Dust Warfare and X-Wing.

Each of these tournaments is open to the general public. Regional champions for each game win free entry for the weekend as well as a first round bye.

Players compete for the Iron Throne in “the only game that matters!” The FFG World Championships bring fans of A Game of Thrones a double dose of Westeros’ epic battles and subtle intrigues with the Melee and Joust World Championships, and one player will rise above them all to win the title of A Game of Thrones: The Card Game Overall World Champion.

The winner of Iron Throne reaps fantastic rewards, including the coolest prize in gaming! The Melee, Joust, and Overall winners each get to work with the LCG developers to design cards for future release.

The Ancient Ones exert their growing influence upon our world as investigators and cultists compete for the eldritch artifacts needed to banish them to distant realms or herald the end days. Confront supernatural terrors and the best players in the world in the Call of Cthulhu World Championship.

What terrors will the winner unleash upon the world? In addition to other great prizes, the Call of Cthulhu World Champion wins the opportunity to work with the game’s developers to create a card of his own, eldritch design!

Axis, Allied, and SSU forces command powerful combat walkers and battle over the rare power source VK in Dust Tactics! Assemble your troops and prepare for a campaign that is sure to test your mettle. When the dust clears, only one general can claim the title of Dust Tactics World Champion.

What’s better than annihilating your foes? The Dust Tactics World Champion wins the opportunity to work with Paolo Parente and the developers to design a miniature for the game! Furthermore, Paolo Parente and Vincent Fontaine will provide the winner with a custom, painted, one-of-a-kind version of the miniature he designs!

The massive VK-fueled engines of destruction from Paolo Parente’s rich world of Dust come to life on the battlefields of Dust Warfare, the intense tabletop miniatures game of alternate 1940s reality World War II combat between Axis, Allied, and SSU forces! This is your chance to become a part of history as the winner of the first ever Dust Warfare World Championship.

To the victor, the glory! The Dust Warfare World Champion wins the opportunity to work with Paolo Parente and the developers to design a miniature for the game! Furthermore, Paolo Parente and Vincent Fontaine will provide the winner with a custom, painted, one-of-a-kind version of the miniature he designs!

Deploy your most powerful starfighters for the X-Wing World Championship! In this tournament, Rebel X-wings clash with Imperial TIE fighters in cinematic space battles. Select your ships, craft your plan of attack, and complete your mission of becoming the best squadron leader in the galaxy.

It’s war without end in Warhammer: Invasion. The nations of the Old World nurse ancient grudges, and the forces of Order clash against the forces of Destruction in the fast and furious battles of the Warhammer: Invasion World Championship!

Among the prizes the Warhammer: Invasion World Champion claims is the right to follow in Sigmar’s footsteps and forever change the face of the Old World. The World Champion wins the right to work with the game’s developers to design a card destined to fuel future battles!
