If your hero has his Stamina damaged to the point where some of it overflows into Wounds, can a shield or armor decrease the Wound damage taken?

Please advise.

No. You have not "taken" a wound per se… you've been exhausted beyond capacity and damage has been done. This is the hidden danger of fatigue that cannot be affected by armor.
