How does Spider Web Shield work ?

HI !

After bying the new artifacts expansion to my runeboun 2nd ed we had a little argument about how does the new shiel work .... my friends beliwe that after suffring dmg from a meele blow the shield negates all dmg from meele source instead of absorbing only 2 .... can any 1 clarify the shield text 4 us plz? [ sorry 4 my bad english ]
