I apologize in advance for necroposting this thread, but I couldn't help but clarify on a portion written by Oboewan in one of the initial posts in this thread. He wrote:

In Descent: JiTD, how many movement points does it cost to move from inside a pit onto a mud space?
3 movement points.

I had always thought it was just 2 MP to climb back out??

Please help! I have several quests that end up with players falling into pits...

Mud is an obstacle from the Well of Darkness expansion.  It normally costs 2 movement points to enter a mud space, instead of the usual 1.

Climbing out of a pit into an adjacent space normally costs 2 movement points.

The problem is, both of those are written as replacement costs instead of cost modifiers, so it's not obvious what hapens if you are in a pit, adjacent to a mud space, and want to move directly from one to the other.  So that's what that question is asking, and the answer we got is 3 movement points.

That probably means that climbing out of a pit and entering a mud square each add a cumulative +1 to the movement cost, but of course it would be far too useful for them to just say that...instead, they give us an answer to that one exact specific scenario that provides no direct information about any other combinations, such as jumping over a pit into a mud space.

For the record (thx to Corbon for digging that up):

This, from Thundercles, in a previous discussion (the forum search software actually works now).

No, figures never block line of sight for spawning purposes.

Another one for the record:

After a lengthy search for an answer to what is meant by "control" in the case of the Enslaved effect of the Obsidian Shackles plot card, I came across an answer on BGG. Searching the archived version of the old FFG forum it appears that it originated on the previous forum in the Gathered list of Answered Questions but did not make it into the similar thread here. I was not around for the old board, so I don't know if there was a reason this was omitted, but I think it's an important ruling that should be included. Without it, we were fairly confused about how to use Enslaved and I don't think anyone can come up with this specific reasoning via just the rules as written (as an aside however, after working through the always dangerous "designer's intent," my group were preparing to use a house rule almost exactly like this).

I didn't want to step on any toes and add it to the GLoAQ here in case anyone knew a reason that this answer was left out.

The answer in question, from page 14 of the archived thread (www.fantasyflightgames.com/ffgforums/posts/list/325/168.page):

"I have one to add as well, this one wasnt in the sticky, but its good to know. It has to do with the "enslaved" lingering effect caused by the plot card "brother against brother"

comment: Regarding Descent: Road to Legend

With the plot card "Brother against Brother" and the "enslaved" lingering effect....It says that the Overlord gains control of the heroes turn, What does this mean exactly?....declare actions, re-equip/un-equip items, move, spend fatigue....in addition to attack??

Also, thank you very much for replying to my previous questions Dan I really appreciate the customer service you are providing in rules clarifications. Again, thank you!

Most of the restrictions that apply with "Dark Charm" also apply here.

The overlord may declare an action for the hero. He may move the hero and make attacks as allowed by that action. (He may even place and spend order tokens such as Aim!)

He may not force the hero to do any of the following: spend fatigue, spend health, drink potions, and items. He may also not force the hero to make an attack that includes himself in the area of effect. He may, however, re-equip the character following normal rules provided he does not violate any of these restrictions.

~~~The OL may change his mind after being interrupted. (…) the OL can change his mind after being interrupted, (…) treat it as though you did a little 'rewind' to right before he declared an attack. The OL, after being interrupted after declaring an attack, may choose to continue with the attack, change its target, or even not to make the attack at all. (Edited to keep the context of the answer)~~~
Anyone know how far this rewind power extends? If the OL is interrupted during movement with an attack can he take back that movement?
I think the natural way to read that is that you rewind to the point at which the interrupt attack occurs:  any action that was pre-empted by the Guard attack hasn't happened, so the overlord can still choose what to do, but any action that was completed before the Guard attack is over with and can't be changed.
Further, I'd rule that each square of movement is a separate "step" that can be interrupted (after all, the moving figure can choose to stop and make a regular attack after any square of movement).  Therefore, as long as the overlord gives you reasonable time to react, you can't "rewind" more than the most recently declared step - you can pre-empt what the overlord is currently doing, but you can't undo what he's already done based on what he does afterwards.
OFFICIAL ANSWER FROM KEVIN WILSON:
Hi David,
I sent you an answer a week or two ago, but I guess it didn't reach you. Guard cannot be used against a mimic until the overlord's turn, so it cannot immediately attack.
The answers differ in the upper part and in the lower part of the FAQ. (in the upper part the text is in white and in the lower part, the text is in red).
In the lower part, the "no" became "yes":
Leap and Berserk
When using the Leap attack, are Blood Apes affected by Aura? Also, are they affected by abilities such as Alertness and Guard orders, which can be triggered by a figure moving next to the Hero with the ability?If the Ape is affected by Aura when it has Leaped, does it gain the benefit of it's Enrage ability from the Damage taken?
No, No and No
Yes, yes and yes.
So is this "No" OR "Yes"?
He means the first page of this thread.  The small-text post and large-text post have different answers listed.
Neither of which should be relied upon, actually, since this has since been addressed in greater detail in the actual FAQ.
Another one:
When using her special ability, she may not split movement like that, she may only move before OR after attacking.
Hi,
I sent a couple of questions for rule clarifications directly to FFG via their "Rules Questions" form on this website. How will I get an answer to those? Will I be contacted by email or do I have to keep an eye on any of the FAQ threads here?
Thank you.
A few questions are answered by FFG directly via email, for most of them I wouldn´t expect a direct answer, though (I myself have received one or two answers on about 15 to 20 questions sent and I have long since given up to use that approach).
If you have questions you could post them in the main forum (not in this thread) and you´ll see if there is already an official answer to them, or at least you will get valuable input and/or it might get included in the next FAQ.
I didn't post them in the forum because last I logged in to this forum I got a popup "reminding" me that the forum is not supposed to answer questions on rules and that we should please use their question form.
