A few rulings…
Published on 09 August 2012 - 07:31:16

Hey guy, this is my first post and I was wondering about afew rulings…

1. If I send professor Nathaniel peaslee to the discard pile through ritual of summoning will I still be able to bring it back

2. If I bring back museum curator back from the discard pile with peaslees effect will I get it's enters Play effect

3. Can I use ritual of summoning effect more than once per turn

Thank you for the help

1) Yep, as long as Nathaniel leaves from play, it doesn’t matter how he got to the discard pile (discard, destroy, sacrifice, etc…)
2) Yes you will. Curator’s effect uses the text “enters play.” Which means regardless of how it enters play (triggered effect, playing it normally, etc..) his ability will work.
Now, if an effect would use terms such as “After you play…” then it would not work triggered ability as it will only trigger off of you actually playing the card normally.
3) Yes. Both of Ritual of Summoning’s effects are Action. Which, unlike Response, can be used as many times as you like provided that there is no text prohibiting it. Such as “Limit once per turn” for example.

And yes, it’s a fun combo. :)

1. Yes, Peaslee does not give a qualifier about how it enters your discard pile, just that it does enter your discard pile.

2. Yes, it says "enters play" not "is played" so any effect that puts it directly into play will trigger it just like the game mechanic of paying its cost and playing it from your hand.

3. The card does not say it has a limit, nor does it require some sort of cost which could not be paid multiple times, nor does it act as a response to something. So yes, use away. Is there a particular reason why you had doubts?

it would except the deck i am currently testing is based around using ritual of summoning to mass sac everything on my field and bring it back with peaslee eff and gain tons of "enters play" effects and tons of tokens to summon out huge beaters with ritual of summoning

Incidentally that was the original central idea for my tournament deck. The problem was: in playtesting it, I managed to pull off the complete combo only once in 20+ games. It was too difficult to get all the required cards out and even if I did it was too late to have much effect on the game's outcome. So, the deck evolved in a slightly different direction that worked a lot better. Here's a link to the decklist and some comments:

Let me know if you manage to create a deck that has more success in utilizing the combo!

I have played this deck a lot and have been able to pull it off 90% of the time by using shocking transformation and things in the ground to find peaslee and a few drawing cards for summoning

Now that sounds like an interesting deck. That's already four different factions - fun!
