EotE Previews
Published on 21 March 2013 - 18:01:59

For many of us this is old hat, but for those unfamiliar there are some previews of character creation. First up was Obligation (It is your Destiny) followed by early steps of character creation (Bound for Adventure, Part One). Still fun reading if only for the previews of the tables and page excerpts.

While the material might be "old hat" to those of us with the Beta book, it at least confirms that there's some degree of consistency between the Beta + Updates and the final release version.  Which is especially nice for those of us running or playing EotE campaigns using the Beta + Updates, as that means less alterations we'll have to do to our characters.

It was already enough of an irritant to have to revamp my Human Hired Gun Merc/Bodyguard once, thank you very much sonreir  I'd really prefer to not have to that yet again if possible.

Indeed, it is a promising start. The beta was pretty well polished (except for vehicle scaling and autofire) right out the gate…

The changes, tho, seem to be in the line of simplifaction (even if I do disagree with elimination of Surveilance as a skill). Surveilance would be the perfect "Ambush" initiative skill…

That's a notable risk for Beta games… Things get changed based upon feedback. And in some cases, changed back.

At least, with SW:EotE, we can expect (based upon the EotEBG release) it to actually look like the beta mechanically. (Mongoose's Traveller completely changed tasks and combat between final beta and release…)
