So, they finally decided to do this! I wonder when it'll be released.

The fact that this looks (from what we can see) to include only characters, ships, and missions from the original trilogy is the ULTIMATE WIN!

If they ever release "Force Packs" with prequel garbage, you can be sure that they will not be big sellers.

Don't be so sure MattWest.  There is a lot of popularity for the prequels. Just not among the first generation of Star Wars fans.

Yeah, this. There's a whole younger generation that loves the prequels, plus another generation growing up with the Clone Wars cartoon now. And then there's freaks like me that love it all, even the bad or cheesy stuff.

This is why I like that FFG is doing the new artwork in house, as maybe over time they can maybe incorporate characters/ships/items/missions/etc from the OT, PT, EU, Clone Wars etc. and make it all mesh art wise.

We'll see what happens I guess.

I love the clone wars animated show. So I hope they do some stuff with that.

Marvel Heroes is high on my list of FFG games

That's the same thing I've been thinking. I can't WAIT to build a Jedi deck, with Luke Skywalker teaching a new generation the ways of the Force, and having it not look stupid to have movie and book material juxtaposed.

"Truth has power. And if we all gravitate toward similar ideas, maybe we do so because those ideas are true…written deep within us. And when we hear the truth, even if we don't understand it, we feel that truth resonate within us…vibrating with our unconscious wisdom. Perhaps the truth is not learned by us, but rather, the truth is re-called…re-membered…re-cognized…as that which is already inside us."   Peter Solomon, The Lost Symbol

I think the fact that there is some cheesy lame stuff and even one movie that I can say I simply dislike actually makes Star Wars even cooler as a whole.

It's mission-based.  It wouldn't make sense to include prequels unless it's a separate game.  The characters from those movies aren't (or aren't yet) Rebels, and Anakin would be problematic since he is not always explicitly a bad guy.  And it would make even less sense for Luke to fight battle droids alongside Jar Jar.

I think the prequels are awful movies but good material for games nonetheless, so I don't mean to bash them.  But I'd guess if they support the game long enough and feel 4-6 has been exhausted for material, they'll have to start a separate game with a similar system to draw on 1-3.

I'm an older generation fan.  I still have several of my ORIGINAL action figures that I got as a little kid in the 80s.  So I say HOORAY to original stuff.

No doubt, the new movies have some cool ship designs, concepts, and plot elements.  But....yeah.  That's about as far as it goes for me.  The lack of cohesiveness in the story boggles my mind.  The only way I can stand to watch episode II is with riff trax in the background.

I highly recommend checking out Redlettermedia's reviews of the prequel trilogy; if you like riff trax, you might find it to be a highly entertaining (and informative), series of videos.

I'm more excited by the prospect of a new SW RPG, and I'm quite taken with the idea of the minis, however there should always be a SW card game of some sort.

I've a friend who is a big collector of SW card games (mostly Decipher, but he dabbled with the WOTC version), and I'm sure he'll get at least the starter set/basic game

You can complain about in-game continuity with meshing OT and PT all you want, but when it comes down to it, a game is always gonna mess with continuity. What if Tarkin shows up and Lando's on your team with Luke? They never met until after Tarkin died. Is that gonna bother some people? But despite that argument, I do agree that prequel stuff should be kept separate from the IV-VI arc. I don't know, I could see them doing two types of tournaments in the future: an era restrictive version and an "anything goes" version. That way they could get some of the "OT only" players interested in buying some of the PT Force Packs to make their decks more competitive. As for me, though, I'll just focus on the OT stuff (especially since that's all that has been announced). ;)

Yeah, games are always about "what if" scenarios. Wouldn't be much of a game if both the outcome and the path there is decided beforehand ;)

Luke meeting Jar-Jar is a disgusting "what if", though.

What if they hit it off? What if Luke bought Jar-Jar a smooth and refreshing Colt .45? What if Lando filmed the whole thing?

What if Lando is finally awesome in a card game format?
