I just picked up 2 more Y-wings, so I now have a set of three, and after reading up a bit I think I'm going to try this…..
Dutch Vader w/R2D2 and 2 Proton Torps
Gold Squadron w/R5, 2 Proton Torps and Ion Turret x2
99 points and I'm debating upping one of the R5 to an R5-K6….I'll see what happens
Two things:
1. This squad is hard to win with (to me) but a fun challenge. Others have reported good success on forums with a 3 Y-wing build, while some people laugh in the face of it. Personally, I think the lack of maneuvering makes it a challenging but not impossible build to use.
2. I love the idea of Dutch Vader: maybe he has a wooden helmet or practices lightsaber duelling with windmills or something.
Be Seeing You.
Thanks for all the replies guys! Really good advice and insight there. I ordered two more Y-wings last night and I'm thinking of running this list.
Dutch w/Ion Cannon
Gold Squadron w/Ion Cannon x2
Rookie X-wing
This gives me a four ship build and I still have 5 points for a couple of droids or whatever. Any suggestions on what to do with the last 5 points?
Thanks!
May the force be with you.

2 Torpedoes on any Y-Wing other than Horton is just a total waste. I've run Dutch, Horton and Gold together a few times with no losses of any of them. The maneuvering isn't that difficult, and made all that much easier that you don't have to juggle your firing arc with your opponent's, you only have to worry so much about dodging theirs.

Well, I played against my first Y-Wing today and that 1 defense die was pretty lame. Even with all those shields and hull points, the thing was taken down too quickly by concentrated fire from 6 tie fighters.
I don't know about you, but I don't think any ship will do well under "concentrated fire from 6 tie fighters"…
I read it as 'I didn't employ my Y-Wing properly and maneuvered in such a way it got overwhelmed, so it must suck.' and moved on with my life. We can compare base stats all day long, but you'll never be able to account for the most important part of the game, which is maneuvering.

Y-Wings are great! It takes 6 tie fighters pooling all of their efforts to take one down quickly.
