I should also add that I'd love to see models produced that replace the cardboard "objective" pieces. Things like:
Lambda Shuttle
GR-75
Escape pods
Satelites
etc…
Sooner or later FFG will run out of viable spacecrafts for the two sides. When that happens, I hope they introduce a new faction (some type of criminal and/or merchant organization) as opposed to bringing in clone wars-era spacecrafts. I would like to see this game kept clean and in the current timeline.
As for specific spacecrafts, the B-wing and Tie Bomber combo is a pretty obvious candidate. The lambda shuttle would also be a nice though somewhat under-powered addition. After that? I have no clue…

hmmm explain the b-wing fascination …hmmmm dunno, I like brunettes with blue eyes and I prefer blackcars. I like all the rebel ships I think the imperials are a bit dull but the b wing is just ….. not a plane looking craft or a shuttle looking craft its unique. I like it, now if it had a brunette pilot with blue eyes and came in black I'd have it made :)
Leia "I love you"
Han Solo " I know "
Solo you da man
Rince, have you ever looked up how many starfighters there are in the starwars universe? It's gonna be a while before FFG has stuff to run out of to represent. Even that miniatures game wasn't shy to brush wide with what they wanted to use to represent in that game… and many of the commons were fighters I'd never even heard of.
The B-Wing is interesting because it's an unconventional craft. When you think fighter and spaceship, you don't often think up a vertically-oriented craft that can gyro about the cockpit. The B-Wing is unusual and heavily armed, which is why some people would like it I imagine. Then again I think there's something to love about each of the Rebel fighters. They're unique, distinct, and they don't push the envelope into gimmickry.
I wouldn't discount the Lambda right away… the thing is, we already have four possible ships. The base Lambda, Han Solo in the Tyderian, Vader's personal Shuttle, and the Emperor's shuttle. The Lambda is better armed than you would think, and could probably act as a Corellian Transport for the imperial side given the firing arcs and expansion capabilities. I can easily see, after the TIE Phantom is released, folks eagerly equipping the Emperor's Shuttle with a cloaking device as it was supposed to be using. This is of course unless the Emperor's Shuttle comes with a cloaking device upgrade if it's released.
Plus the Lambda as an objective offers some interesting possibilities. Imagine a scenario where the Lambda has to fend off attackers until reinforcements arrive? Or shuttles put into an emergency offensive role, or an unlikely battle between transports?
The Lambda might also be the first unit in the game that comes packed with both Rebel and Imperial pilots that could use the same model but different stats. The Lambda and Tyderian might be Rebel, while Vader and the Emperor are imperial shuttles. If you really needed both, add another Rebel shuttle and have the generic counter be double sided.
Well, if the game survives to 2015, we may see our options increase. Lol.
"I am Captain Soontir Fel. I will teach you how to fly & how to survive. If you think you know better than me, all I can teach you is how to die."
I am familiar with the extended universe (more or less). I just think that the average player is mostly familiar with the movies. So, releasing rare spacecrafts from the extended universe might not be that successful financially, since most players could not really relate to the new expansion, which might prevent them from buying it. But I could be wrong…

I think the B-Wing/Tie Bomber is the next natural pairing, and would keep us in the realm of movie ships. Rather than 'big' ships (of which the Falcon and Slave I are the big ones in the original trilogy), I'd rather see some more mission-based stuff. I know a lot of people want a Lambda-class shuttle, but that would make more sense a token, like the shuttle token with the base kit.
After that though, I think a little 'Scum and Villainy' or 'Dark Times' style release is in order, with ships from the major media releases:
Fighters: Z-95 Headhunter/Virago
Ships: Outrider/Rogue Shadow (Dash Rendar and Starkiller's ships. Or alternatively from the Rogue Shadow, the Sith Infiltrator from Episode I)
Although honestly, a switch to Clone Wars/Prequel Trilogy Ships would probably be more profitable and more natural for recognition. I like the ship designs from that era just fine, and it would open up additional 'sides'.
I think a more realistic perspective is needed. We know (or think we know), that there will be a Wave 3… Someone posted specific knowledge of that, but they didn't mention what was going to be in Wave 3.
I do not think we can reasonable expect years and 10 waves of expansions. I think it IS pretty safe to say Tie Bomber and B-wing are the most obvious choices for OT movie cannon ships. They are starting to get to the bottom of the known list of OT movie ships. Heck even the TIE Int and A-wing were just a slight bit more then "cameos" in the movies (just like the bomber and b-wing).
As for Wave 4? I have my doubts, I could see a pilot/upgrade pack but not too many more ships.
Old Republic ships? If anything they would be a seperate game, with updated rules. OR I suppose a model mod, where OR ships/pilots replace 1:1 X-wing ships.
EU ships? I would guess probably the same, another game. I would also guess Old Republic ships would get done first any ways due to the movies.
A 3rd faction: I suppose this would be possible, though I really can't see too much variation for a whole new faction that wouldn't either seem like one of the others or best of both worlds aka pointless. I already am seeing some issues with the upgrade cards, when in a bind they create a new class of upgrade (aka ion cannon for firespray/y-wing and torpedos/missiles). More on top of more of this will make the game a mess imo.
Z-95 headhunter? Why would you want a completely inferior ship to the X-Wing? It would be essentially an a-wing with less move options. The headhunter was a Clone war version of the x-wing and… "When compared to the T-65, it was slower, less maneuverable, had lighter armor and shielding, and was not as heavily armed." aka an a-wing with a y-wing dial… yup that sounds like a good ship to have????

Yep your wrong, because the Average Star Wars fan or someone who just seen the movies isn't playing this game. Also people will buy anything with a Star Wars label. This argurement where people won't buy something from the EU is used again and again for no reason. Just how bad did the sales hurt for games like KoToR, SOTE, etc because they weren't based off and using movie knowledge material only?
As I've said in another speculation thread, the most concrete "rumor" that we have of Wave 3 is the card art for the Homing Missile. A Wave 2 upgrade card with a ship that we currently do not have.

People offering 10 thousand ship options from all over the place from the Star Wars Universe also tend to NOT make a case that "more is better" and that the game wouldn't be diluted into an unbalanced pile of crap.
4 X-Wing 6 TIE Fighter
2 Y-Wing 2 Advanced TIE
4 A-Wing 4 TIE Interceptor
2 YT-1300 2 Firespray-31

Well, a Z-95 at say 2/2/3/1 with focus, target lock, and a missile slot for 12-13 points base would be handy for the Rebel faction to give them a cheap swarm type ship

Exactly, thats why this game should stick to the Original Trilogy era with a possible extension in the post-ROTJ era.
The next ships we should see are the Cloakshape fighter and Skipray. These would be great for a crime syndicate/neutral faction. The Outridder would be amazing as well. Just my $.02.
