Cover Rolls Question

Hello!-
So my question is based on the total amount of dice rolled during a cover instance where multiple hits beyond the targets life were rolled.
EX: A BBQ Squad is targeted by Laura and a Heavy Recon team. The Germans get to roll 9 attack dice and score 6/9 hits. Does the BBQ Squad have to roll for 5 of the hits or do they roll the full 6?

They roll for evry hit , so you need to roll 6 dices and then see how much minis you lost.
