I was just reading the revised rules, and while I think they go a long way to fixing the errata and confusion from the first set, it seems to me that the example of combat with Cthulhu is flawed.
1.) The example states that Havey Walters started combat with Cthulhu with 3 stamina. How is this possible, when C's special ability reduces your maximum stamina (and sanity) by 1 for the whole game? Harvey would start with 2 stamina, in that case.
2.) I have always played that Cthulhu's combat ability applies to your maximum sanity/stamina, regardless of where it stands when you go in to battle (therefore there would be always be 24-27 rounds of combat with him, regardless of the number of players- 7 days worth). The example would seem to imply that Harvey went in to battle with only 1 sanity. Why would Cthulhu's battle damage apply to 'maximums' if you're still battling him with the sanity and stamina that you have when the battle starts? That would be the same as battling every other AO, so what's the point of using maximums? Considering his battle ability of putting one doom back at midnight, I have found him pretty hard to beat even with a guaranteed 24 rounds. You'd have to hit him an average of almost 3 times each day to pull it off, which rarely has happened when I fought him- his task is the least likely to come up of all of the AO's (which only makes sense, given that he is Cthulhu).

Bump.
Also, does anyone know if a reprint with the revised rules has been released?
With the new expansion on the horizon, was hoping I could get a better copy than my first edition with errataed cards and rulebook, and so on.

1) Just a mistake. Barring any special bonuses I'm unaware of, he should have a max stamina of 2.
2) This is correct. All investigators should be able to survive exactly 7 attacks. This is the same as in Arkham Horror. And, it is true that Cthulhu is a tough cookie in battle—that's how he was designed.
"Ashcan" Pete will take that off your hands when you're done with it.
Charlie Kane would befriend a strangled cat if given the chance.
Finn Edwards has very deep pockets.
Hank Samson does not care that you've mastered time travel.
Lily Chen can punch a hue.
Lola Hayes is the world's best Egyptologist.
Mark Harrigan is very good at hedge mazes.
Michael McGlen has never experienced an earthquake.
Minh Thi Phan makes group hugs empowering.
Patrice Hathaway plays songs you can't get out of your head.
Tommy Muldoon is most qualified to be deputy, yet for some reason nobody want him to be.
Tony Morgan sells meat out of the back of his van.
Ursula Downs can shop at an empty store.
Wendy Adams always wins at hide and seek.
William Yorick has a Bachelor's in Cryptozoology—no wonder he can't find work.
Wilson Richards will paint over anything for a dollar.
Zoey Samaras can torch a fire vampire.

Sweet. Thanks for the info.

Where are the revised rules for sale at? I just picked up the game so how would I tell if it has the revised rules or not? The rules and game show 202 as the copyright.

Look at the number of pages in the booklet. Revised rules are kinda longer (20 pages vs 12, IIRC)
We have dragged Reason from her throne and set in her place the Empress of Dreams [Liber Endvra]

Mine has 20, so I guess it is the revised rules. Thanks!!
:) glad I helped! Anyway, if you want to cross-check, look at how spells work: in the revised edition you roll the dice first, and then decide whether to use a spell or not!
