~This means war!!! When we come up for Calicon, my group is going for the head of whoever make the decision to revoke my honorary member status in your meta!!! lol... I miss seeing my picture up there

Hey everyone (especially those of you who missed KublaCon, or even those of you who made Kubla but want a Kubla-redemption)
CALICON 2010 is finally here!!! - Sept. 25th & 26th
This year is gearing up to be the best CaliCon ever! Over the years CaliCon has evolved from a small gathering of friends/AGoT players to a large scale tournament boasting 20+ players from all over the state. The coveted CaliCon Cup, the first place prize, will be graced with a new champion's name. Will it be yours?
CaliCon is a wonderful event for all levels of players, from beginner to advanced. We encourage casual, friendly tournament play while offering that competitive edge every card player desires. Come test your skills, learn a trade secret or two and discover or rediscover why this is "The Only Game that Matters."
This event will be split into 2 Championship Events over the weekend of Saturday the 25th and Sunday the 26th of September. The first day will be the Melee Championship (see below) and will be held at Cha0s' home in Brentwood, CA. Here is the info for my house:
2524 Albertine Lane
Brentwood, CA 94513
925-301-5329
* Please note that I have plenty of floor space if you want to rough-it.
The second day (Sat.) will be the Joust Championship (see below) and is scheduled to be held at Black Diamond Games in Concord, CA. Here is the info for the store:
1950 Market Street
Suite E
Concord, CA 94520
925-681-0600
Here are all the specs you will need to know about this event:
CaliCon Joust Championship
Compete head-to-head in the ultimate showdown of the Joust Championship on Sunday, September 26th, at 11:00 AM.(Registration begins at 10:00 AM, please report to the TO early if you are planning on participating in this tournament, as any player not registered once the tournament has begun will not be able to compete in the event.) Players will compete against each other head-to-head, through several preliminary Swiss rounds (depending on attendance), cutting to a single-elimination top eight. The final eight will play off against each other until only one player remains. This player will be crowned the A Game of Thrones LCG CaliCon Joust Champion.
The Joust Champion, in addition to other prizes, will get his/her very own CaliCon Cup trophy.
The Joust Championship Deckbuilding Rules: Your House deck must be at least sixty cards, with no more than 3 copies of any card, by title. Your plot deck must contain exactly seven plot cards, with no duplicates (unless otherwise allowed by card text). Your plot deck and your House deck may not contain any card that contains the words "House X only," unless House X is the House you are playing. The legal card pool for the A Game of Thrones Joust Championship includes any non-banned cards (see below) from the following sets:
A Game of Thrones Core Set,
A Clash of Arms expansion,
A Time of Ravens expansion,
King's Landing expansion,
Kings of the Sea expansion,
Princes of the Sun expansion,
Defenders of the North expansion,

(Registration begins at 10:00 AM, please report to the TO early if you are planning on participating in this tournament, as any player not registered once the tournament has begun will not be able to compete in the event.) Players will compete against each other in multiplayer play, through several preliminary rounds (depending on attendance), with tables being randomly mixed and assigned at the beginning of each round. After the third round, the field will cut to a top four (by score) "final table". Those four will play one final game, and the winner will be crowned the A Game of Thrones LCG World Melee Champion.

CaliCon Maester's Challenge
To be announced by Deathjester26...
Ok people...sorry to do this to you but we have changed the date of CaliCon, we are now having it on Oct. 9th and 10th at the same places. Please post here or contact me by email if you have any questions. Thanks
Oh yeah and please note that the Bara Box will be legal if it is out in time.

So CaliCon has come and gone but not without some great memories and new friendships beginning. Our numbers were down this year (most likely due to our own scheduling issues and a little tourney in Europe called the Tourney of Stahleck being on the same weekend
) but as it happened we had 13 players each day. Here is a short breakdown of the results:
Melee - Top Table of 4
Johnny playing Greyjoy won 1st place
Luke playing Bara (Knights) tied for second
Joey playing Bara tired for second
Ryan playing Bara ended in 4th
Joust - Top 4
Cisco playing Stark (all 6 DotN agendas)
Jim playing Lannister (3 of the DotN agendas)
Luke playing Lannister
Johnny playing Targaryen
Semi-finals
Cisco (4-0 in regulation) beat Johnny (3-1 in regulation)
Jim (3-1 in regulation) beat Luke (3-1 in regulation)
Finals
Jim beat Cisco
Johnny beat Luke
Jim (Laughing Tree) won 1st place in the CaliCon 2010 Joust Championship
Cisco (Letum) after going undefeated in regulation ended with 2nd place.
Johnny (Deathjester) got 3rd in joust which was good enough to secure CaliCon 2010 Overall Champion
Luke (Syd) ended with a 4th place finish.
Great job to all our participants and tourney organizers. I will be posting pictures and a more detailed report soon.

Just wanted to drop you guys a line and send some e-love up to the bay! Hope everyone is doing well... and CONGRATS Justin on the playmat! Hopefully it was as cool as our pink one with the custom, one of a kind logo.
San Diego
Hi guys! Just wanted to by and say 'ello. The wedding has been moved up to President's Day weekend in Vegas so life should soon become "normal". We just booked our Kubla rooms. Anyone else?

I'm not sure if I'm staying at the hotel this year or not, but I will most likely be at Kubla.
KUBLA!!!!!!!!
And also, congrats on the upcoming wedding
Buried in Snow? Dreaming of Spring Break already? Have you been eyeing the AGoT LCG and want to see what it’s about? Or, did you just pick up the game, and are ready to meet others who play?
Our local group is going to be running a Thrones tourney and Demo at Kingdom-Con 2011, April 15-17th.
The convention will be held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Hotel Circle, San Diego. (2270 Hotel Circle North, San Diego)
This is a newer Con that our local buddy has been running the past couple of years. It’s small, but our local meta should produce ~7 players. With NorCal players and people who might be interested from the LA area, we’re pushing to have at least 12. The website for the Con should be up soon, but I thought I’d get the word out early.
The Melee will be on Friday night at 7pm, followed by the Joust at 11am on Saturday. Sunday (and any other down time) will probably consist of demos, shenanigans, etc. There will be extra decks floating around if you are cardless and would still like to participate.
Please see the Support page for tourney rules and FAQ information.

Is there a playgroup in the East Bay (Berkeley/Oakland Area) that meets regularly?
I am looking to get into this game from the ground floor and have questions...
Should I start with the Core set and do I need more than x1 for a playset of cards?
Where can I find information about how houses work in the LCG, including focuses and playstyles?
Is there a search engine in the format of L5R Legendary or the Call of Cthulhu database? -yes, I play those and embedded links provided
Is there anything else that would be helpful for a new potential player to know?
I have harnessed the shadows that stride from world to world to sow death and madness...
I know the East Bay group meets out in Walnut Creek at Black Diamond Games on Thursday evenings. Not sure on the exact time.
