For anyone interested:

We're going to be meeting up at Game Empire in San Diego on Monday (4/5) night at 7pm.  There should be 3 or 4 of us.  Feel free to come and hang out.

A Game of Thrones will have a presence at Kingdom-con in San Diego! Deathjester and I have a table reserved for AGoT demos and play at noon on Saturday, 4/17. One-day admission is $15 to the entire con. Saturday's going to be the day to go, because not only will there be AGoT, but lots of other demos, tournaments, and even a pirate-themed band! Here's the website: http://www.kingdom-con.com/

DJ - sorry if I beat ya to it, but I'm really looking forward getting my thrones on this weekend, haha!

Now that's what I call a successful demo!!!  We were giving demos left and right at Kingdom-con.

Major congrats and thanks Bronson for organizing and putting that all together.

We had lots of thrones action on Saturday! It was awesome... the huge popularity of the books and HBO series caused the majority of wanderers to come by to at least strike up a conversation. I'd say about 40% of those folks  actually sat down through 2 rounds of demos and almost half of those folks wanted to finish a whole game. We were using core sets to minimize complexity (e.g. no shadows) and I encouraged most newbies to play House Stark.  Needless to say, core set Stark unleashed a horde of characters and made for a fun first experience!

Thanks for the note DeathJester... couldn't have done it without you!

I'm sorry I missed the demo last weekend. I just picked up the game at Gameology yesterday. They had a demo of the core set for sale. I'm in the LA area Cornnut. If you are still playing, I'm available. I'm considering Kubla-con due to this game. Just finished the first book and I've got the fever!

Hey Gamer! Glad you're enjoying the books! We're meeting up tonight at Game Empire in San Diego which is quite a trip for you especially considering traffic. If you can make it, great! If not hopefully we can meet up soon... I'll send you a PM so we can work out the details.

Also, in case you haven't seen it yet, the video tutorial is helpful for new players. Here's the link:

Welcome to the California Thrones Community WTFGamer. You mentioned Kublacon. I really hope that you can make it. The Bay Area thrones meta is running the events, along with Deathjester from your area. It should be a really kickin' weekend. Hopefully we'll see you there!

Two things changed since my last post. I got a job, YAY, and I  had a birthday. I've got a lot less free time to game but I also won a Boardgame Geek auction for a bunch ( 16 expansions) of new AGOT cards! I'm very eager to try them out. Unfortunately I'm off to Lake Havasu this weekend. After that I should have some free time to game weekday nights. I can travel to any of the greater LA areas. A trip to San Diego would have to be a weekend deal. I'm thinking of hitting Kubla-Con for the first time.

I was sad to see the Kings Landing set had only single copies of House Greyjoy cards. Are we really expected to buy 3 sets to make that house playable or does it work out as is? I obviously haven't tried it yet.

Halfway through book 2 and lovin it so far!

All of the Chapter packs released up until now have been with 10 cards in single copies, and 10 cards in triplicata, for a total of 40 cards.  Sadly that means that yes, if you want a full play set, you need to buy 3 copies.  However it's only $30.  Pretty cheap.

The good news is, starting with the next cycle of chapter packs (due out this summer), the pack will have 20 cards in triplicate, for a total of 60 cards.  The price will go up to $15, but you're getting a full playset that way.

You should definitely come play Thrones at Kubla.  It'll be fun.

I am a new player in the San Diego area looking for a group to play with.  Next time you plan to meet at Game Empire I might drive up.  Its only about a 25 minute drive for me.

Cool.  Welcome aboard Gwanum.  I know Bronson was trying to put something together for tonight up in Oceanside, but I think it fell through because I'm not available this weekend.

I have family in town all next week, but maybe we can set something up for Monday (5/16).  We'll keep you posted.

Hey there Gwanum! Glad to see you're interested in becoming a part of the SoCal AGoT community! DeathJester I assume you mean the 17th? If so I'm in! Let's shoot for the 17th at 7pm although I think I might get there a little sooner. Maybe if we have enough folks show up we can have a couple 2v2 matches?
