Til Death do us Part (Objective 1C - Spoiler!)
Published on 13 May 2012 - 10:51:29

 Guys!

So we played TDDUP last night with objective 1C, which states:

Keeper wins if shoggoth kills an investigator {…}
Investigators win if they escape the map {…}

Well, my shoggoth couldn't catch them in time, but I killed an investigator with a zombie I had on hand.  I killed an investigator, but not with the shoggoth. One investigator escaped the map, one died. SO…who won? Me? Them? Stalemate?

Cheers for your thoughts.

Stalemate.

You could also say: a tie.

Or: None has won!

As a general rule: If neither the Keeper nor the Investigators achieve their goal, there is no winner.

According to the box-text on pg 15 of the rulebook this is a valid outcome of the game.

Another example would be this: Also some objective cards mention this: no player wins (including Keeper- and Investigator-players).

All the best!

The one who had escaped - won.

Probably and likely. Haven't thought about this alternative. Am always thinking in "full" bodies - Keeper vs. the group of Investigators. Also I admit it: I did not read the OP with my full attention. ;)

Understandable conclusion, but the FAQ states this:

Q: What happens if the Objective card requires all investigators
to escape, but one of them was killed before the finale?

A: In order to win the game, only 1 investigator per player
is required to escape. If an investigator was killed before the
finale, the player will receive a new investigator. However, if an
investigator is killed during the finale, the investigators will not be
able to win the game
(since he does not receive a new investigator).

So no joy there, unfortunately.
