Rules query/ Printing inconsistency
Published on 17 October 2011 - 18:33:13

OK, read the rules last night, one inconsistency showed up.

When preparing the Spike deck the main rules say 2 Headline cards go in the deck. The two player rules say you should make the Spike deck with 2 headline instead of the 'normal 3'.

Is it safe to assume the two player adjusted rules have failed to catch up with changes in the main rules or does the main rule have an error?

Anyone know?

Tim

Page 5 of the rules (3-4 managers) :

  1. Set aside the Blood Bowl card.
  2. Draw 2 Tournament cards
  3. Draw 2 Headline cards
  4. Shuffle the 2 Tournament and 2 Headline cards
  5. The Spike deck is composed of 5 cards (2 Headlines + 2 Tournaments + 1 Blood Bowl at the last position)

Page 16 of the rules (2 managers) :

  1. Set aside the Blood Bowl card
  2. Return all Headline cards to the box
  3. Shuffle the 3 Tournament cards
  4. The Spike deck is composed of 4 cards (3 Tournaments + 1 Blood Bowl at the last position)

I don't see any mention about 2 cards between 3 in the Two managers rules.

The 2 player rules look correct. You use the 4 tounaments only - no headlines. You draw 4 highlights and keep the first 2 that have players played to them and discard the other 2.

The Optional Rules: Abbreviated Season DOES seem to have some sort of typo/error in it  - I bolded it...   Prepare the Spike! Magazine Deck: Draw one Tournament card (instead of two) and two Headline cards (instead of three).   In a standard game you only do draw two headlines.

Ah Ok.....one mistake on my part - I've missed the optional bit of that Abbreviated Season rule - thought it was part of the 2 player section (that'll teach me to read rules past midnight and post after limited sleep) and its the bit that The Finn spotted that I looked at askance at....looks like a typo in there then
