Grimoire wording

So the new expansion looks interesting. But I always seem to have uncertainties about the wording in this game. Maybe it's the translation. One spell lets you replace a Mission card. That's pretty cool. Question: when choosing the new Mission card from the deck, is it done randomly, or by choice? The fact that you have to shuffle the deck afterward seems to hint that you get to choose, but it's not explicit. Thoughts?
