Sorry, but I can't see the point in this league as all you have to do is play more games to win it, actually winning battles doesn't matter as shown by the 1st and 2nd places, when the winner only won 38% of his games.

Sounds like this was organized by obama. You win not by actually winning but by participating. Yes a political joke !!!

The point of this league is to get people playing the game.
What better way to do that then by rewarding them for doing just that playing the game.

I did try and create a more competitive way of recording wins and such but in the end it created a league for a small group of player who are really good at the game. That is why the final format was kept simple. "You play, You get points".

The Dust Overlord competition is a bit more competitive than the standard league.
In the announcement it just says that the points are combined but there is a bit more to it.

When the Worldwide League starts in February I will explain in more detail with examples but in short Overlord score is worked out as follows:
1 point for playing either game;
+2 points for a win in either game;
+1 point for every 2 wins in Dust Warfare*

*this is done because Warfare games take longer than Tactics games.

That will work out the Dust Overlord score.

Dust warfare games do not neccessarily take longer than DT games though.  We'll be playing the Hades campaign soon and there is an 800pt force in one of them, that will take a lot longer than a 150pt DW game.  I can see the idea behined getting people to play, but by using this system you are immediately excluding players from entering the league who don't or can't play several times a week.  Could there not be a cap on the number games played?

There are a lot of options available when it comes to calculating points, number of games, number of seperate opponents, etc.
I have tried to keep the rules/requirements to a minimum while the league gets going.
After the next league period (Feb-May) a number of changes are planned that will open up the league and take domination away from the (super) regular players.

For now, I think that even players who only play one game every so often will get a lot of fun out of the next Worldwide League.
