I guess Deathwatch will be done in different languages.
Will these versions be released at the same time?
I'd have no real problem if Deathwatch would only be in english, but some of my friends wouldn't be too happy reading such a massive volume in english.
And since we really want to start as soon as Deathwatch is available, it would be helpful if the core book would be released in different languages at the same date.

Dark Heresy wasn't released simultaneously and neither was Rogue Trader. So...

Aye, it's usually a few months at the earliest that the translations of the books come out, because the translators have to have the full printer's copy before they can start translating it.
So if you want it straight away, you're only going to be able to get it in English. I imagine it'd be around Christmas before the translations are even close to being released.

Sad, but thanks for the answers.
But this way I should be able to plan some missions and we can start as soon as they get their translated books. :)

If no warp storm delays the planning (again), the french version of RT should hit the shelves next week...... so DW will definitely not be released in french at the same time as the english version

If it's taken nearly a year for a French translation (and I don't believe there are any other translated copies yet), then schmic1977 will either have to wait about a year or more for the translated Deathwatch corebook, or make do with the English ones.

I have to admit that this intrigues me. How does one go about translating the book? One would imagine that FFG wouldn't find it too hard to find translators for their products.
Okay, reliable translators might be an issue. How many "fans" might try and slip in the odd risque reference? ;)

They have good translators (Bibliotheque Interdite, who translate all the novels and the Warhammer stuff), and distributor (EDGE, FFG's "partner"), and the products are excellent quality (books are hardcover, when I think english books are softcover), and the errata will be integrated into the rulebook.
It's just that we usualy are one poduct behind (the Radical's Handbook is also scheduled next week; Descent's Seas of blood is scheduled for summer; and Arkham's Innsmouth Horror for autumn) and it looks like it will remain like this.
What makes it "unbearable" is internet : reading articles/scenario about DW when you are waiting for RT..... <sigh>
On the other hand, we get Anima products sooner, as it goes EDGE then FFG (and when I say sooner, the Ki sourcebook was released more than a year ago....)
Go figure

All of the WH40K RPG books are being released Hardcover, it's not language dependent. As to Anima, I've only recently seen Gaïa volume 1: Beyond Dreams get released here in the States. So. in that regard, we're a bit behind, yet.

My copy of the Inquisitor Handbook was softcover, but it's a first printing one, so I gladly conceed the point .
And...oops, it seems like I forgot the Anima's bestiary (Those who walked among us) released a few months ago, sorry :)

I've still not found a FFG copy of Purge yet, so I only have the softcover BI version. Any help out there on that one?
