  Hi All,

Does the apprentice have access to Rank 1 College color spells or only the basic cards (magic dart, channel and cantrip)?

From 0 to 9 XP, characters are Rank 1 and have access to Rank 1 action cards.

To clarify, they have access to in the sense that they can buy them, not that they get them for free. They can also buy higher rank spells (if you rule that they have "access" to them) for a number of advances equal to the rank.

The rules for buying spells which rank is higher than the characters rank are detailed in Winds of Magic. Apart from the extra xp cost, there is the risk of gaining corruption and the fact that it is forbidden. The exact details are described in the supplement.
