The dice situation is unfortunate and I agree that for a game that is still "supported" the absence of dice on the market that can not be substituted is probobly a directly associated to any sales issues they might be having with this game. It is in fact a traggedy that such a great game is held back by something so bloody simple as releasing some dice.
And the outtage isn't some minor issue either. I mean I wasn't able to find dice anywhere online. Ebay, Amazon and some of the large online retailers… none have any. Literly if you want to by WFRPG 3.0 dice today, you simply cannot do it unless you buy a core set where they can be found.
Really unfortunate and a pretty epic failure on FFG's part. This should be an emergency level response in my opinion.
Hi all,
I just wanted to add some comments/perspectives from a complete WFRP newb. I have never played any form of WFRP, although I have played many other systems in the past; Runequest, DnD3.5, Traveller, CoC, SW2 and Saga etc. I haven't even played WH miniatures and I have a very rudimentary grasp of the WH world, but I have just bought into WFRP3. My introduction was the announcement that FFG was bringing back SWRPG. I was at once facinated at FFG's completely new approach to RPG…and very impressed! I read and watched as many reviews of WFRP3 as possible, of particular note was Rodney Thompson's review (who designed my favourite and, IMHO, best RPG system in SW SAGA, although I am no fan of DnD4). On that basis I became totally sold on WFRP3.Through watching and reading all the FFG promotional material and videos I understood how all the components of this system fitted together. I think they have done a good job in describing what could or could not be useful to any particular individual's needs and have made it quite clear that each piece was, in a sense, self sufficient, and I could buy into it at whatever level I should choose. I was further enticed and excited by the coming of "The Enemy Within". I feel that the dice supply issue, while fundamental to the system, is something that the company could quickly and relatively easily rectify. Consumer demand will eventually win through, hopefully. I think this is a wonderful and innovative new system that deserves greater recognition and support.
Just a few thoughts from someone who had never heard about, or only in passing anyway, about WFRP3 4 weeks ago.

I wouldn't say, 'killed off' but it has clearly been 'deprioritised'. That's an annoyance, but one I'll have to deal with. Clearly all the remaining bandwidth has been taken up with 'the enemy with' campaign (which either shows how much effort is being put into that, or how much manpower the WFRP3 dept has remaining). I do however find it hard to see why they can't manage a monthly POD. To be honest, I could manage one a fortnight, given access to there artists and printers (on top of my full time job - obviously).

More a question of manpower I would say. The fact that the Enemy Within is getting no promotion whatsoever, barely a mention at Gencon, and the dice packs are out of stock, suggests that FFG has consigned WFRP to the proverbial Remainders bin. The fact that they will not even say if they are doing anything about the dice situation suggests that they really do not care anymore about WFRP. A useful experiment that has run its course, I suspect.

While it may offer a bit of hope, it doesn't offer much. Some knowledge of FFG's licensed IPs is only to be expected in a post like that, but it says nothing solid about future plans with regard to those IPs.

I embrace the way FFG currently treats WFRP (frankly its no suprise for me) and I hope they will stop producing material in 2013. The sooner this abomination of a rpg goes the way of the dodo the sooner the way is open for a better 4th game (hopefully with another licencee who cares about the setting).
And a troll comes out of the woodwork.
I hope that WFRPG 3e does not get shelved. It is hands down one of the best RPGs I have ever played (and I have played many).

Quit the name calling, that person has as much a right to an opinion as you have. If you have read the forums you may have noticed a number of people who have tried 3rd edition, and I mean tried, and have gone back to 2nd edition. There others like myself, who still embrace both, and write for both systems. Calling somebody a troll because they voice an opinion you do not like, just speaks of latent immaturity and is the vehicle of extremism in all its forms, religious and political.

Well maybe its not appropriate, but lets be honest here, this poster didn't actually say anything, nore did he share anything with us at all. He told us he thinks its an abomination… but didn't tell us why, he didn't bring up a topic we can discuss, or a reasoning that we can dispute. That's what we call a firestarter conversation because we can't base an argument or point out the flaws in his opinion, nore have a discussion about mechanics or the differences between the two systems. We have nothing to go on, its a post designed to annoy people and trigger negative comments, aka… a troll post.
I would be curious to know what about 3rd edition is an abomination and what aspects of 2nd edition are so wonderful that we should consider playing it over 3rd edition, or abandon 3rd edition for a hypothetical 4th edition that would be better…. I wonder in what way a new edition would improve the game?
Let us be very clear. I don't really care if someone likes or dislikes the game, and I have no problem with someone politely saying that they don't particularly like a product line. But that is not what that poster did. In a forum filled with people who really like this game, in a thread filled with people who are worried about the state of the game, he came and told everyone that he thinks the game is an abomination and he hopes everyone who likes the game is SOL. The only purpose to a post like that is to get people angry. People who go to forums and post things with the express intent of angering the locals are, by definition, trolls. It is not immature to say so, and it is not a vehicle of extremism. If someone had came on here and wrote a post entitled "My Problems with WFRPG 3e," and filled it with the reasons why they don't like the game, I would not have said a word. Everyone is entitled to their opinions. But if someone comes here just to piss off the community who like the game, and make no attempt to start honest, civil discussion, I don't see a problem for calling them out on their behavior.
FFG evidently thought it was a trolling-post, so they sent thier…

We could take this for a spin and simulate a rampant edition war, like they have over in other games! Oh the joy! :-)
To get the ball rolling, I say we need a 4th edition. In this, wfrp could be improved in the following way:
So, ladies & gentlemen, let's see what you can do! Bring out the River Troll in you and help us improve the 4th edition of wfrp even further!

Will in the 3rd edition, sorry I mean in the 4th edition, the starting Barber surgeon be able to kill the River Troll with his dagger while tending his party companion that is suffering from a cold caused by the rain that permeates any warhammer scenario? because it is a grim world, so it has to have rain.

I think we need the following for a proper 4th edition war:
I wanted to produce some artwork with this, but alas, there is no time today. This is all tongue in cheek of course, because well..uh….
