The minute I saw Fantasy Flight's announcement regarding Civilization: The Board Game, I was giddy with excitement. Not about the game itself, which I'm sure will be astounding, but because of the potential card sleeves that could come out of this.
In Civilization, each race is represented with an important figure in the history of that civilization. Usually a ruler, but someone who was influential in the development of his or her society. This makes Civilization a rich license from which to draw images for card sleeves. Even those who do not end up playing the game could well be interested in sleeving their cards with their favorite world leader.
Between this and Battles of Napoleon, I am really hoping I can snag some Napoleon Bonaparte card sleeves before the year is out.
"Truth has power. And if we all gravitate toward similar ideas, maybe we do so because those ideas are true…written deep within us. And when we hear the truth, even if we don't understand it, we feel that truth resonate within us…vibrating with our unconscious wisdom. Perhaps the truth is not learned by us, but rather, the truth is re-called…re-membered…re-cognized…as that which is already inside us." Peter Solomon, The Lost Symbol
