I was making a comment about the games updates. You were making a comment about others posting on this thread. There's a difference.

Mallumo's comment about people thinking of other places first rather than the official site to discuss a game left me scratching my head. Really? Really? Not saying he is wrong, we just got a good example of this at the LOTR forums, but I find that perplexing, and honestly, it bothers me that people would do this.

Both sides have good arguments here. I don't think it can be said that the game is dying. But from my observations of these forums,(and after what Mallumo said, I might be missing the greater picture) it seems that there is far less enthusiasm and far more disgruntled players here than when I first joined the game. That's just my observation. It is also puzzling that updates have been fewer and far between lately. Maybe FFG has lot on their plate, but sometimes perception becomes reality. If it seems like the game is being paid less attention to than others, it will discourage players. Maybe the next cycle will do some remedying of the situation, but it has to start with FFG generating and maintaining a bit more buzz about it and bringing it to the players.

I wonder why this thread turned into a flaming-one so quick. Here a few players just complained about the lack of previews. I wonder how anyone of you "fans" could decline news!?!? This is just the same reaction like everywhere on the web, where intolerant people cant stand other peoples point of views. This is just a discussion. Write down your opinion and wait for the others´to reply. Theres no need to curse and blame others for beeing "emo" or "formal petitioning". I wonder who is blocking forumactivity here.

FFG isn't the company that goes out with a bang. They show less an less support for a product until the hype fizzles so that the backlash isn't too bad when they pull the product. It is not my place to say if I agree with this way of marketing or not, but I would like to point out that products that go out with a bang tend to have huge cult followings that keep the life of the product going forever.

One of my favorites to date is Exalted. They went out with a book that sets up for a cataclysmic campaign. More importantly I liked reading the farewell from the authors.

I personally can't wait to see the cards this cycle brings.

Here in Poland WH:I is really fine. Here are statistics from main forum in Poland about WH:I: www.whinvasion.pl

Posts: 20482 • Topics: 1215 • Users: 737

Everyweek in few main cities there are tournamets with 20+ players each. The biggest one was in Wroclaw this spring with 35 players, but next weekend we're having national champions and there will be probably more than 50 people. Moreover there is official league with 460 players and more than 200 turnaments played this year (source: http://www.warhammer-inwazja.pl/)

But yeah, give us more news! :)

So, after we get a single update (bringing our updates to a total of 2 in the last 2 months), CoC gets 3! updates dropped on it in the same day! Come on guys. It can't be that difficult to have some guy over there post updates for W:I. It's a simple post! What the hell?

A bit of thread necromancy here - my apologies for that.

Anyway, as someone who once worked at FFG (2008 - Line Coordinator for the doomed Mutant Chronicles CMG) , I'd guess that the lack of updates (from when this thread was started) were in part due to the busy period surrounding GenCon (FFG works very hard for that event and time is at an utmost premium around then).  I'd also guess that it can be related to the personal schedule of the designer (Lukas) and marketing associate's available time to write these.

When I was writing the Mutant Chronicles Unit profiles/stories, much of when they came out was simply tied to how it fit into my work schedule (granted I think we had a better record for releasing these type of updates for THAT particular game, as the fans seemed to love them and I enjoyed writing them).  Some days or even weeks were quite busy leading to a lack of time to post the updates.

Not sure if that will answer your questions or not, Doc9 (if you're still around) but thought I'd try to shed some light on things.
