Just to be clear. I didnt buy the newest Magic set cause the art sucked. lol. That is pretty bad when your art turns people away after fixing Magic to how it should have always been.
Pull from the subconscious and never give up on your dreams.

A LOTTA less! Here players spends like 15/20 euros on each draft(and they play like two per week at our LGS). Whit that money you can buy the Core set with the Battle Pack, adding just some euros.
I don't play game cards since that much. I started with Pokem when i was a kid, Yu-Gi-Oh later on(hey i was a kid >.< !! ) and Magic since like 2-3 months. I like the game A LOT but i just hate that guys from the shop. They play ONLY Magic, some of them hates Warhammer's Lore(wtf how can you hate Warhammer's universe o.O ?? Ok if you don't like it..but "HATE" it's too much.. ) and they don't even play that good. Ok there's some uber players but no-one plays in real tournaments with real pros..so i guess they're still playing for fun..so why don't try War?
That's because they already are Magic addicts and, as you say, they can't see past their blinders. This happens also in music..i'm a metalhead but listen to ALL kind of music..and i can't absolutely stand people that listens to a genre or even GROUP only.
Well, about the thread..if you ask me how to handle a comparison between the two games with open minded people i think you could just make 'em try the game and they'll like it a lot.
If you manage to talk with the kinda guys i described..well, just give up. Theire stupid and can't be considered "gamers", just fanboys. Open minded people likes new games, things and such while close-minded people are just..close-minded!

Yugioh is actually a bit underestimated. Hardly to be ashamed of. I played it too in the past and it is a combo-rich environment.
A shame it seriously lacks lore and needs some visual improvements.
Regardless I quit for the same reason I quit L5R (in my eyes the or at least one of the best ccgs out there) not that long ago. Money.
LCG's are just far cheaper.
