@dragonwhimsy

I'm not sure you quite understand caboose's frustration. I'm gonna take a stab in the dark and say caboose has been with battlelore since the beginning and caboose you can correct me if I'm wrong. So that's five years off supporting a game. Don't you think it would be pretty frustrating to see another game that has nothing to do with battlelore (except for sharing the colors green, blue, and red) while having a battlelore game on the front of every single one of it's products get expansion after expansion while we sit and wait to hear any news about the game that we really enjoy?

And if the game does get retooled I'm not so sure that it has anything to do with sales but has more to do wit Mr. Peterson's idea of what battlelore should be.

I hope this message doesn't sound mean or jerky because I don't mean it that way I'm just trying to explain the battlelore fans side of things

Yep, Caboose is one of us that has been around from the very start of the game.

I share his frustration and think that although I can see Dragon's point of view, to think that BOW has had no impact on Battlelore's release schedule simply cannot be true when it is the same design team that works on both games. Add this to the fact that BOW could not exist without the Battlelore license (in its current iteration - its on the box) and it looks like BOW is looking to add some magical elements now...

FFG need to just come out and tell everyone what the hell is going on. The constant waiting and wondering (how they hell does it take this long to sort out another base game?! ridiculous) just breeds negativity. Come clean and please tell us what is going on! You have no idea how much good faith a little information can garner.

Thinking about it logically in a business sense (mind you - things rarely play out in a logical fashion . . .)

They won't do anything until the stock of french sets are low and then based on the sales data- go from there. I'm assuming the profit margin should be pretty good even with (possibly) poor sales since they're not making anything and just re-packaging.

from there (probaby around Sept) they would probably release an over-priced hard back rulebook and adventure book covering the core set and all expansions (for all the owners of the french sets and for anyone who wants one reference book as oppossed to sixteen). I think they would package it with some sort of  promo figure and extra scenarios.

From there (Xmas or new year's) , second edition battlelore with two completely different races (with probably half the figures as the original core set) or possibly the death of battlelore and in it's place a completely new Richard Borg command and colors boardgame.

but I don't see them letting it go since according to their statistics, Battlelore ranks #10 out of all their products.

also, the reason why they're keeping mum about what's upcoming is probably because they don't want to hurt the sales of the french sets

Pot the Ferret:  I do believe you have hit the nail on the head with the no news is due to not wanting to hit sales of the re-purposed French sets.

Dragonwhimsey: FFG are doing a lot of damage to their core players, they lost Universalheads awesome website, the Raven was awesome for promoting the game, I'd say UH and DoW relationship was one of the biggest wins DoW came up with and FFG pretty much threw it away

Caboose is usually the first person to answer anyone's rules queries an important thing if you don't have a game rep on the boards

And there are half a dozen others without whom these boards would be even quieter.

I used to be a lot more active on boards before I had second daughter and creativity fell as sleep deprivation rose.

FFG could have just run with what Mr Borg has been using in his home group which before all the delays caused by DOW and FFG was already 8 years ahead of what we had seen, eight years.  We've seen hints of as least 6 other races and that DoW used an abriged Lore deck and an entire political world - imagine what FFGs rpg department could have done with that.

I know that they have had huge issues recreating the base set but stony silence, well I suppose you just kind of have to get used to it and keep the candle burning.

Well. Its not only Battlelore as I see. I`m WFRP 3ed player and the way that UniversalH was handled by FFG is below criticism in my opinion. Basically FAN stuff needs to go to underground. Its not only BL or WFRP. Look how many mistakes are in the WFRP rulebook...

King, Baromir - you are both correct.   I've had my share of FFG's tactics and want them to stand for something (I've dealt with FFG in another game as well and sold that game quite a while back too...fortunately I did since it seems that game is still being "supported" (Descent) - but in actually nothing going on there either.    They say they had good things for this product line when they bought it 2 years ago (or close to it..I think this october would be 2 years for sure).  And basically "abused" it to produce WestLOSS (spelling intential).    And I suspect Todd and others like me [it's Friday folks - my brain is fried - I know who you and no slight intended!) are just as upset/annoyed/frustrated at the lack of anything from FFG.

Too bad Richard can't just produce what he wanted for Battlelore (i.e. his ideas to fruitation in a mass market way so others can buy them).

And doesn't help either that FFG is going after Viking Lords due to suppose copyright infringement.   What a waste of money that could be used for better purposes.   Since we all know FFG will never produce a computer version of Battlelore (or it's likes - just look at the other games that they claim they will/have something in the works and they've been in that state for years! :( ).    And based on posts, it seems FFG is losing on that front (of course, no ruling has yet to be done either - I'm basing this on opinions of various people with more insight into the law!).

So let's see.   FFG has had BL for 2 years, have basically "ignored" Richard to do what he wants with the line (and made him answer questions for a while..and noticed that has stopped quite some time ago too!), puts out a far inferior product with BL name on it (and that is close as it gets..IN NAME!), and can't even product a base set of the game.   And people start to wonder where things are going.   Namely with no news for 6+ months, NO running of the game at Origins or GenCon.     And I have been also a demoer of BL for 2+ years while with DoW.   And did FFG want that game demoed while purchasing of the game, since that list of people could easily been sent over to FFG (I even knew some myself w/ my connections)??  HECK NO.   And now with one of the better customer service people gone for FFG - I doubt there is much left.   I bet Thaadd was burnt out on all the BS.

DragonWhimsy - We all know you are just a Troll looking for "replies".   You are pro BoW.   So go back to your little hole and play with your weak BL set.  Enough said right there.   I think the other people's replies also speak highly as well.

Origins - based on my looking at things, for the FFG speak next week (I do believe it is next week, no?), seems it just that.   Basically what they want to do.  Hopefully there will be some Q&A and some people ask about Battlelore.

I've started putting comments on all their facebook announcements along lines of 'oh so no news on battlelore, oh well'

Probably won't change a thing but...

I know Elberon..but at least there is effort.   At least they can't say they didn't see them! :)

But it's par for the course for FFG to ignore their customers...but hopefully time will tell.

I'm still hopeful that they will do a surprise release like what is happening with Dust Tactics at the moment.

A new revised core set, new FAQ, etc sounds pretty awesome.

Maybe the sales of the French repurposed sets have given an indication of the continued interest by the buying public for Battlelore.

Even though I'm only new to BL, I still have my fingers crossed that the system keeps on expanding.

I started thinking that making next edition releases is just taking money straight from our pockets when nothing brand new can be developed by FFG. Game of Thrones board game 2nd edition? Maybe Battlelore 2nd edition? Why to stop it when it`s so god damn good! And, btw, I just bought core set and its fantastic! Ok, I would like to have English booklet but well…

When I stumbled across Battlelore, I was lucky to find an English core set at a (relatively close) game store for $95. Now trying to get all the french expansions while they're still available (2 more to go). Love the core game though - haven't even moved on to any of the expansions yet.

yep, same here. there is plenty of stock in Poland for BL. I bought my stuff in the Netherlands, and I`m missing Hundred Years expansion here and in PL. From what I`vre read most of the figures from H-Years are in Chivalry (that is why I just bought one)

Code of Chivalry actually only has one unit that hundred years war has. The only thing they share are arbalest equipped units.

Hundred years war also has one unit of red banner halberdiers, two units of blue banner spearmen and 4 horn blowers. I would highly recommend getting this expansion if you can.
