Just a note about the Vampire Tower, in the rules theres a section about losing a follower, where it clearly says: when the follower is killed (e.g. chasm or vampire tower).. bla bla bla
I've recently noticed this too, hence my digging up this thread. Two things are clear from this entry:
Basically we can't rely on the wording of the disposal of the follower - we need another criteria...

As I said if the word discard is used then valkyries skill does not work how thematicly it even is
While we're waiting for a 100% clear and official rule, I figured out this way to handle things:
- Followers that are discarded in order to perform some effect CANNOT be taken by the Valkyrie (St. Josephine, Hieromartyr, Beastmaster and others)
- Followers discarded in any other way (killed, forcibly discarded, sacrificed to Vampire's Tower, Vampire Prince or other "Follower killers") are good for the Valkyrie to take.
This is a good place to start I think.
thanks for the clarifications

If you use the criterion that the word "killed" must be present, it becomes a fairly weenie ability to have. :P
But if you don't use exact wording it becomes impossible to adjudicate. For the example of the warhorse -- he is "discarded" per the wording on his card. But in terms of roleplaying he probably is killed because you lost a life to lose him.
If this rule question could be cleaned up, that would help a lot. Until then I ain't playing her. :P
Resurrecting...

I vote Velhart to do the list
Ell.
I've voted myself to do the list
First of all, none of the 'temporary' Followers (Fiend Slayer, Horned Owl, Warhorse etc.) are killed when they are removed from the game - they are always discarded. I agree that this is as it should be. The only situations in which a Follower can be killed are listed below:
'KILLED' FOLLOWERS
Giant Beetle, Vampire Prince, Vampiric Dragon (if you lose); Cyclops (roll 1-2), Shrine Priest (your choice); Soul Drinker (roll doubles); Narrow Path, Chasm (roll 1-2); Defeating Gladiator or Magus.
If it's left at that, it certainly is a weenie ability. Once face-up, the Enemies aren't going to be visited by anyone who isn't confident of beating them. The Shrine Priest's Follower-killing is voluntary, and Soul Drinker's is obscure. For nearly all games, that only leaves the Narrow Path and Chasm, both of which I personally avoid like the plague. I can't see the Valkyire getting more than 2 or 3 Followers a game if the criterion is this strict.
Stupid Unstable Potion. Why did I drink it? Why?
Part 2.
'LOST' FOLLOWERS
Leper (roll 1-2); Temple (roll 4), Lost City (roll 5).
'DISCARDED' FOLLOWERS
Cursed by Hag (all), Hatemonger, Werewolf (a random one); Book of Diablerie, Hand of Midas (your choice); Rock Face, Snake Pit (test roll), Temple of Varthrax (one of your choice), Varthrax War Council (optional); Vampiress's life drain; Vampire's Tower; Warlock's Quest.
Taken together, these three lists are quite substantial, and allowing the Valkyire to resurrect in all these instances would probably be unbalancing, particularly if she owned the Book of Diablerie or Hand of Midas.
Personally I'd like all the 'killed' cases, plus the 'lost' cases, plus the 'discarded' ones that imply death, (Hatemonger & Werewolf if killed, Rock Face, Snake Pit, Temple of Varthrax and Vampire's Tower.) I realise that, due to the arbitrary wording on the cards, that would be messy.
Stupid Unstable Potion. Why did I drink it? Why?
I propose a simpler solution, you can get all followers killed or discarded, but she can get their only ones. For example St. Josefine: Player A discard her to recover his life and the valkyr resurrected her, when the valkyr will use her she can't resurrect St. Josefine again.

This is how we usually play her as well. When another character sacrifices/uses S:t Josephine, fateful hound etc it's ok to resurrect them, but if the valkyrie does the sacrificing she can't resurrect them. We thought this sounded logic anyway.
Too bad we didn't get the much expected information in the new FAQ.

The main rules states: ”Any Followers that are killed (e.g., in the Chasm or the Vampire’s Tower) or that must be discarded are placed on the Adventure Card discard pile.”
We play that follower is killed by any effect that is not depend on itself.
It includes all the board places (Chasm, Vampire’s Tower, Temple, Warlock Cave/Warlock Quest Card, Lost City), special abilities (Gladiator. Magus, Vampiress – including Reaper and Varthax Dragon Rage), Events (Earthquake, Warewolf, Hate Monger, Volcanic Eruption, Tumbling Boulder, Hidden Chasm, Avalanche), Enemies (Vampire Prince, Giant Beetle, Gate Smasher, Vampiric Dragon), Strangers (Cyclops, Leper, Shrine Priest), Objects (Soul Drinker, Book of Diablerie, Hand Of Midas), Followers – only if fight in a character’s place (Champion, Faithful Hound, Friendly Giant) and Places (Idol, Snake Pit, Narrow Path, Rock Face, Temple Of Varthrax, Varthrax War Council).
The only exception is a Horse Thief event because it steals Followers
On the other side all the Followers (except if it is fight in a character’s place) that depart for some reasons and effects are discarded not killed (e.g. Warehorse, Fiend Slayer, Hieromartyr, Guardian Angel, Treasure Hunter, Luck Dragon, St. Josephine).
we play it as any follower put into the discard pile, is killed therefore any follower can be returned under the ability
